I've heard 6 tracks from this album so far (it's not 'out there' so no need to look yet) and have to say I'm more relieved than anything. Relieved??? Yes. Reason being I'm a huge Monkeys fan and was genuinely worried when I heard about this side project as I wasn't sure it was the way to go. But one thing I have now learned is to never doubt Alex! I've long held the view that the bloke will be remembered in years to come as THE major talent of his generation, and this side project has convinced me even more of that. It's just so very different to what the Monkeys do...but no less brilliant. Plus it's very probably got more 'mainstream' appeal and will definitely appeal to people who aren't 'into' the Monkeys. The bloke is a 22 carat star, even if he doesn't really want to be. And, Mr Jolley, who seriously cares if he has a model girlfriend? I'm sure you would jump at the chance if you had Alex's talent and looks, lol.

Rating: - Big and Bold
I've heard live recordings of about 3/4 of the album and unlike some people (Mr. Ms. J ahem ahem) havent written this review on a stupid hatred(Stop hating a band because their popular people, and start listening to the music!) and I must say it is pretty damn good. Its a bold direction for Mr Turner that has resulted in the production of even bolder tunes! Probably not up to the Arctic's standard but the live demos sound good so fingers crossed!

Rating: - different but quite impressive
from what I've heard, and relying on two friends who've heard advances in the United States, this is an impressive -- albeit different -- project for Alex Turner.

Fans of early 1970s Bowie, Scott Walker, and the Walker Brothers will be very happy indeed.

I like the Arctic Monkeys quite a bit but have to admit that this is more inventive and consistent than most of the 2nd Monkeys album.
