Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Tom tom traffic
Poor poor item. My other half has the standard Tom Tom device and I actually prefer that.
Raging about mine this evening as I had sat in a queue for forty minutes before it told me there was a problem - despite tapping my traffic column for updates numerous times. It then tried to direct me through town!
A usual forty minute journey took two hours.
It does not pick up usual traffic hotspots on my various journeys home either.
I also find it cannot calculate a useful alternative route, and I am relying on my own knowledge, or that thing they call 'a map'.
I bought the thing for home visits in my job but it doesn't seem to to be able to find its way out of the car park.
So no, I don't like it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I really like the TomTom 530T
I really like the TomTom 530T but I am comparing it with others that I have owned. The TomTom 530T is my fourth Sat Nav - the other three were Navman Sat Navs.

I started with the iCN320, upgraded to the F50 and then (upgraded?) to the S90i. Now after only four months I have replaced the S90i with the TomTom 530T and I am absolutely delighted with it.

I now have maps that are up-to-date and that I can immediately correct myself when errors are detected, experience both visual and verbal route guidance that is both accurate and easy to follow and get traffic (TMC) reception more often. I can now rely on the Sat Nav for guidance and concentrate on the road and traffic. The Advanced Lane Guidance feature is absolutely great!

The F50 was brilliant for hands-free calling, requring only three actions (two button presses and one voice command) to make and end a call, but it took time to configure in the first place. The TomTom 530T requires four quick and easy selections to 'call home' and ending the call is simple to do - I rarely used the S90i hands-free calling process as it required too many on-screen selections, was unreliable and, in my opinion, unsafe.

To rate my satisfaction with the TomTom 530T it would be useful to give a comparison - the F50 would be 70%, the S90i 10% (yes, ten) and the TomTom 530T 97%. The only disappointment with the 530T has been the slowness in connecting to the TomTom site for updates (but at least I can get updates online) and the fact that the power and TMC connections have to be made to the device itself - it would have made more sense for them to be connected to the windscreen mount to make it easier to set up and remove the unit.

If I had to choose again, I would still buy the 530T - it is accurate, easy to use, updatable and with clear visual and verbal guidance, it is a very useful navigation aid.

And, if I should ever need to replace it, it will certainly be with another TomTom product.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Construction excellent but....................Bluetooth, Onboard Software?
After progressing from a Dell Axim X5 with Tom Tom Navigator, to my current Garmin Nuvi 300, I decided to purchase the Tom Tom 530 Traffic.
I will add the following comments to help any future would be purchasers.
I had no problems on delivery setting up the Tom Tom 530T with my Apple Imac running OS X.
Although I have read reviews elsewhere about the Tom Tom Home software, it worked fine for me in updating to latest maps and adding various extras.
In use, the Tom Tom unit proved excellent in route planning, including use of the TMC Traffic mode.
I managed to get a signal approx 90% of the time around the Birmingham and M6 North up to Manchester over a few days use.
But..................the Bluetooth feature is very poor when the vehicle is in motion, with very low volume levels with the volume set to 100% I was able to have a conversation with the caller all be it with a low volume output at my end by leaning toward the unit whilst driving although this was a far from ideal situation.
I encountered a software/hardware jam when receiving a call causing no volume output for any modes.
This was cleared by doing a reset after pulling over, again far from ideal.
I use a Sony K800i mobile that paired easily with the unit and was excellent in use when parked, with very good comments by the person I was speaking with at the other end.
I ensured that the latest software updates were installed on the unit although this did not cure the problem.
Amazon kindly sent out a replacement, although this proved to be the same.
After trying two units, I finally gave up and have reverted back to using my Garmin Nuvi 300 and a seperate Jabra earpiece.
Tom Tom products are constructed to a very high standard, but the software running the unit seems to be the cause of the problems I had with the two units I tried.
I am computer savvy with PC and system building experience.
It is very rare that I finally give in after spending valuable spare time trying get a product working in an acceptable manner, but this time I really ended the saga in frustration more than disappointment.
Amazon kindly refunded my payment and I will be considering the new Garmin 765T unit when it becomes available in the next month or so. (Bluetooth seems better along with caller audio transmitted through car audio as opposed to the small Tom Tom speaker)
If Bluetooth is not required, I would have given this product 4 Stars, if it had worked correctly, I would have given 4.5 if I was able to.
I hope this short review helps any future purchasers.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - If it goes wrong, subscriptions are not refunded
My unit went wrong on the second day of operation. Amazon refunded with no issue. I had subscibed to a few of TomTom services, costing £20. Communicating with them is very difficult, I found my way through eventualy and they refuse to refund the £20, the small print in the licence says they do no have to. So beware, buy a unit by all means but us it for a few weeks to make sure it works, before buying anything off TomTom.
