This was an interesting book and corrects some of the Anglo-American views of the Second World War which used to prevail. I think that it has long been acknowledged that the USSR took the brunt of the war although I think that Norman Davies is in danger of making the American and British contributions seem negligible. Although Norman Davies comes out with some quasi-mathematical/scientific facts about the number of German divisions operating in the USSR and the intensity of the conflict there and so on there are some points that would make me question his view of the conflict.
