It's hard to see this decent comedy film now as anything much more than an early vehicle for that genius Peter Sellers. For Sellers fans this film is essential. It has him playing a comic master of impersonation, which is of course what he himself was, as we can see here in this film. Vocally, I don't think I've heard a better mimic in my life - the handful of excellent voice artists we have now are all superb but could they do a whole film in character without waivering one bit, as Sellers did? Sellers was far more than a mimic though, as he proved after radio that he could really act, and not just comedy! My favourite skit of his here is the Irishman, looking 'for a bit of jelly'.
