I thought this book would be great, an interesting adventure and my first step into the literary world of greek classics. But after this, I am not rushing out to buy another greek classic. The story is good, and the interesting mythological creatures and encounters are what kept me reading it. The characters make a square look less two dimensional and I can't, in all honesty, say I liked the good ones. I found Odysseus very arrogant and the gods hypocritical and the actions of them morally questionable. The style was also patronizing in places, by always addressing characters with an adjective describing their character, which we should make our own minds about, and not be force fed what we should think of them. Achilles, although considered a hero by the Greeks, shuns participation in the fighting because of a desire to protect his honour. Hector experiences numerous sucesses in leading campaigns against the Greeks but is eventually defeated when Achilles re-joins the war and uses his influence with the gods to defeat him. The book is detailed in places; however there are some key terms and definitions missing. After reading the reviews I was disappointed and it's certainly not a definitive book for undergraduate level. Although it is useful at times, it's not always going to be there for you. I would recommend looking elsewhere

As the title suggests, it starts with the basic principles of pathology and then goes through each system, covering enough detail without being too overbearing. There are loads of good quality colour photos, with the compulsory gory allocation a pathology book has to have! The text not only covers pathological details but relevant physiology, aetiology and clinical features. It's useful throughout medical school life and is definitely one to recommend. Overall, a worthwhile investment!

A very positive resource for parents who will be faced with many of these now clearly defined and common issues and experiences. Especially useful for parents who won't have the expeiences their child will know. Sometimes though it seems a bit anecdotal and also too flattering - many children who aren't TCK often feel the same way as those described by the authors. It's like reading a description of your horoscope sign and saying "OMG that's so me!" I'd have liked a more researched read - the 'Endnotes' are usually autobiographical in nature. Perhaps there is not a lot of formal research conducted on this topic. If so then this is an encouraging guidebook for the increasing numbers of parents of TCKs.

6.Heart of Stone by: C. E. Murphy 2007-11

While not nearly as good as her Urban Shaman series, Heart of Stone is still an excellent read. Especially since this was actually CE Murphy's first book. She's definitely improved over the years. There were places where the story dragged a bit. I think it was actually a longer book than it needed to be, but it did take some time to sort of set up this alternate reality in which Vampires, Gargoyles, Selkies and other mythical creatures are real and living in New York City (hmmm... not that surprising, really). If you enjoy mystery mixed with mythology, you will LOVE this series. If you're into Laurell K Hamilton and that sort of story, you will definitely enjoy this series. I've just ordered book number two. Looking forward to the read.

This is by far the best physiology book around! Use this and guytons pocket version and you need little else! The only problem is that sometimes it has too much detail but too much is better than too little! I found this book very helpful in studying pathophysiology as well.
