I used this for revision for my GCSE, without this book I would have passed the A-level in this suject and failed the GCSE. It gives a breakdown of each of the areas you may come up against in the exam and how they are likely to be presented to you. The Chapter questions at the end of each chapter, together with your studies in class will help you sail through the exam. I would only say look at it sooner rather than last minute as I did.

I trawled through so many language learning games books whilst training on the CELTA course and didn't come across this book until almost the end and it is by far the best book I have found. If you are going to invest in just one book to generate lesson ideas then I definately recommend this one. There are so many adaptable tasks and activities which are not the recycled run-of-the-mill mundane ones you usually find.

Books : Modern Engineering Mathematics
I was recommended by my lecturers to buy this book for my maths module in the first year of my physics degree. I found that the book is not intuitive, has an ugly appearence (which doesnt motivate the reader to work at the subject) and, most importantly, explains the methods in question very poorly. As an example, I spent three hours trying to figure out how the book had worked through an integration question, only to find later that the problem had arisen simply because the book had skipped an important step, that wasn't at all obvious. This was the day before an exam to really rub salt in the wound.

I found that the book makes a song and dance of obvious ideas, and simply skims over the more complicated steps in new ideas.

5.The Canterbury Tales (Oxford World's Classics) by: Geoffrey Chaucer

Books : The Canterbury Tales (Oxford World's Classics)
As is proved by the delightfully wicked set of stories mirroring in some respects Boccaccio's Decameron, which predated Chaucer, but which expand on bawdiness and give a fascinating insight into human nature: the very language is stripped of all ambiguity: for example, 'and sodeynly anon, Damyan gan pullen up hir smock and in he throng' is almost something out of a Jilly Cooper, although far more exotic!

And if you don't like the olde English, you can read the translation, which I think is extremely helpful if you're new to Chaucer or don't warm immediately to the lingo.

The editor of this book, music historian and Senior Lecturer at the University of York, Jenny Doctor has done a fabulous job of creating an authoritative and thoroughly absorbing book on one of Britain's great musical institutions, The BBC Proms.

At 320 pages and a manageable size (11" x 9") it avoids becoming an unwieldy, heavy encyclopaedia confined to the desk, and should find wide appeal thanks not only to the various contributors - there's a different one for each of the eight chapters - but also for the rich array of good quality photographs and illustrations (155 of them) covering everything from early Royal Albert Hall performances to reproductions of advertisements from Proms concert programmes.

The chapters are arranged as a chronology ... Read More:

8.The Pipe Companion (Connoisseur's Guides) by: David Wright
December 07, 2000
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : The Pipe Companion (Connoisseur's Guides)
This is not so much a pipe 'companion' as a manual of pipe-makers from around the world. It's a very comprehensive and well put together manual but not what I expected. There is not a large amount on the art of smoking pipes or associated paraphenalia or much on the history of tobacco either. So great as a directory of pipe-makers, not so good as a companion to the art of pipe-smoking.

A good book for the budget vis content consious student. I found the introduction chapter on the bbasics of pharmaceutical calculations very helpful. I woulod recommend this book to any pharmacy or related courses as an aid to understanding pharmaceutical calculations. But for more TDM related topics then spacialist books are advised, but this book gives you grounding and understanding of the pre-reg exam syllabus in the calculation section.
