I enjoyed this book immensely. It is very tempting to describe the book by what it is not, not autobiography, not a companion to "Sorry I haven't a clue", not about Jazz... Though I think anyone with an interest in these areas will enjoy it.
The book is quite literally a collection of rambling thoughts and reminiscences - which does not sound very appealing. But Humphs love of language and music shine though continually, and it flows along in a delightful manner.
While his achievements in Jazz and Comedy are well known, Humph's journalism successes are perhaps less well known - and in my opinion his abilities as a writer are every bit as great, and that shines from the pages of this book. I really think anyone with a sense of humour ... Read More:

This might just be a book about five old blokes messing about making bad jokes and school boy innuendo on the radio, BUT, well, you either love them or don't get it. Anyone who rushes home from work to hear ISIHAC will adore this and will attempt (between giggles) to read you some of the more atrocious puns. Of course the book can't truly get over the machieavellian jockeying for position that goes on during 'Mornington Crescent' or display the fragrant charms of Samantha, and on a more poignant note, we all do miss the great lamented Willie Rushton, but when you read this you will enter the classic comedy world of R4

Finally, I can get from Northolt to MC in under 71 moves! Although it is necessary to be wary of the shambling wugu-beast of the District-Line. I'd also recommend that you play carefully around the 'maze of twisty passages all alike'. This book is an ideal companion for those who have no access to the airwaves and have to play MC over semaphore. Don't be baffled by the historical-precedence rules - this book explains how many grand-masters have won important tournaments wearing nothing but a pair of Y-fronts and an important looking hat. Excellent. I'd recommend buying 3 copies - one for upstairs, one for downstairs and one for the bog. 5-stars!

I wonder if Lionel Blair, erstwhile performer on Give Us A Clue, ever listens. This was the programme in which contestants had to mime a film, book or play, in silence and with hilarious results. As Humph's introductions to the radio version remind us, the Clue version differs in two important aspects...

I am a total Clue addict, but I nearly died listening to this tape. No record collection should be considered complete without having Graeme singing the words of "Meet the Flintstones" to the tune of "My Way".

You have to hear it!
