I have a shelf full of cookery books and had limited success. When I cook I want the results to be worth the effort, and this is a great little book with easy foolproof recipes. If you have been frustrated by recipes not looking like the picture and not tasting as good as how you imagined, finally this book really delivers. So far I have tried the chocolate brownies, chocolate mousse and chocolate pecan fondants and have had rave reviews. Finally a book that has restored confidence in my culinary skills and managed to satisfy the chocoholic in me. I am going to check out BBC's other titles.

If you could only have one book in the kitchen, this should be it. It de-mystifies the 'Art' of cookery in a way that is both clear and consise, whilst at the same time making it possible for the reader to think creatively themselves. An invaluable reference book that you will grab off the shelf again and again.

I have been cooking for a long time but gradually lost interest in it and recently haven't been making much of an effort to cook and eat good fresh produce. I already have a good selection of recipe books but what they don't cover are the techniques, terms and raw ingredients in detail, so I was looking for a compact book with all that extra detailed information that I was missing out on. I'm pleased to say that this book is exactly what I was looking for. It has a shiny hard-backed cover that can easily be wiped clean so it's fine to keep it in the kitchen for a quick reference.
