Books : India (Lonely Planet Country Guide)
and the best guide I've come across for India. Packed with detail and a reasonable cultural/ historical introduction. Maps are great, the timetables are pretty accurate, the opening times and prices are correct...

There are some very bad LP guides out there. Vietnam springs to mind. But LP India has been consistently good throughout the years. I think I've used 4 versions of the guidebook and have been pleased with the improvements everytime.

Obviously the negativities are that it is pretty big but how else are you supposed to cram in all that information.

As me and a friend are planning a round the world trip this series of books has been a great help.
In picking places where to go it's helpful to know whats there!

We needed to know campsites, country entry requirements, cost of living, activities, etiquette, transport options, do's and don'ts and most importantly what the food was like! As well as info on touring in campervans, car or footslogging.
The book has it all and more. It covers all such topics and then reviews each place in the country individually. It has topics on law, car rental and purchase, gay and lesbians interests and so much more. If your travelling to this country ... Read More:

A comprehensive guide yet again from Lonely Planet which includes all the essential information for a holiday in Mediterranean Europe. Sadly it doesn't cover Bosnia Herzegovina (despite the map on the back cover suggesting it does) but all in all the information is as much as you could hope for - accommodation, and the basic attractions in all the countries, as well as suggested itineraries.

This book only sets out to provide a basis for those travelling around the region, although it provides sufficient detail for those spending a while in any of the countries covered. It is a book to be supplemented if you are spending a long time in any of the countries, although once in country it's easy enough to pick up the necessary information ... Read More:

Books : Mumbai (Lonely Planet Best of ...)
I am an expat living in Mumbai and have found this my absolute essential guide to Mumbai. We live out in the suburbs but any trip to down town this book is in my bag. We have found the reviews to be accurate, the recommended restaurants to be great and the suggested walks work out very well. The street name convertor is a big help as my born and bred Bombay driver does not know the 'new' Indian names!!!
Just for the record Chimanlals is also our favourite Mumbai shop.
I would seriously recommend this book to anyone travelling through or coming to stay in Mumbai.
