...and that was certainly the case here. The story starts quickly, it's only a matter of a few chapters before the ghost appears and then it all kicks off; from then on the story moves at a cracking pace. I was pleasently surprised by some of the twists in the plot, I really wasn't expecting them (in fact had it not been for 1 twist in particular I would have scored it a 3 star). The characters are brought to life wonderfully, I could almost swear that there is an aging rocker knocking about called Jude. Very well done.

I noticed from some reviews that they thought the book to long, I disagree, there were loose ends that needed tying up and had this not happened then the story I feel would definatly be lacking.

This is the first comic book series that I read in my return to comics after a 15 year absence and it is proof of how far they have come. Intelligent, poignant, emotional, shocking and thrilling in equal measure, Joe Hill has created a compelling and believable world - I am very much looking forward to the next episodes.

When the Hugh Jackman movie Van Helsing was released I was surprised it had taken so long for Van Helsing to be given a lead role of his own, although he was given very much the lead in a lot of lesser Hammer Horror productions.

This is an anthology of stories by different authors writing in different styles and perspectives about Van Helsing with an excellent introduction considering the character, much more than a counterpart to the villain in Stokers Dracula but equally as archetypical as the infamous vampire.

All facets of Van Helsing are considered, he is a character who is at once learned and rational, a doctor, lawyer, professor but also given to bouts of melancholy, and the obsessive study of folklore and superstition, ... Read More:

Read this book and be disturbed, very disturbed, about the state of justice in Britain - or indeed, anywhere else in the world. It is a pity this author cannot keep her political prejudices apart, because this book should be required reading for every MP of every party - judges and policement too. Our system of justice is fallible and it is not just corrupt police officers or prejudiced judges at fault: juries too can be prejudiced and give perverse verdicts accordingly. A study in Canada (remember that the Canadian and US systems of justice are based on ouurs) of nearly a thousand people called for jury service found that over 40% would not give the benefit of the doubt to any person charged with sexual offences against children - or as supposedly ... Books : Forever Lost, Forever Gone
One of Britain's Biggest (If not Biggest) miscarriages of justice is covered in this book. Very detailed, very revealing in that it explains how he was treated by the Police upon arrest & then his time spent in prison. Overall, this is a very moving book about an innocent man convicted of a horrible crime & then having to spend 16 years in Britain's toughest prisons with the knowledge that he & his 5 friends were innocent all the time.

Reference the Birmingham 6 found guilty of the 1974 Birmingham Bombings in England.
