This was a recommended book for my first year of psychology and it will come in handy right up till the 3rd year. I am so blown away by this book. The funny thing is my lecturer is the author of this book. It makes everything so easy to understand, and its such a great read the examples draw you in, and you pick up on things really fast. i cant say enough good things about it

Fantastic! Of all the books I have read on this subject (and I have read a few), this is undoubtedly the best. Not only does it give an easy to understand step by step breakdown on how to use SPSS, but most importantly, it explains statistical processes, meanings and interpretations so well, that even a beginner or maths phobic (like me) can grasp the concepts. Before I read this book I thought I would never understand how to do statistics, and while I may still have a lot to learn, this book has set me on the path. Although this version only covers SPSS 9 - 11, I have been using it for 11.5 and it is still relevant. For anyone who is thinks that they will never understand what statistics are all about, but find themselves having to learn them, ... Read More:

The Book of Common Prayer is the core of the Anglican identity. Since 1662, the standard bearer has been the primary Book of Common Prayer used by the Church of England; however, there have been many variations and developments, both supplemental liturgies and entire, new 'Books of Common Prayer' among daughter churches throughout the world. However, the 1662 Book of Common Prayer was itself the product of over a hundred years of development in the theological and worship life of the Church of England. Never was that development as varied and controversial as during the period between Henry VIII's break from Rome, through his Protestant successor Edward (or rather, through Edward's officials), back to the Roman Catholic Mary, and then to the Elizabethan ... This is an excellent book. Its a shame that it doesn't say SPSS in the title because I nearly missed it. I agree with most of the reviewers of this book, because this is a little treasure. It carefully guides you through the fundemental aspects of statistics, and takes its to its basic and easiest level. I disagree with the reviewer that says it take easy concepts and makes it hard, it takes its time to explain to the first timer all concepts in everyday language, using everyday examples. I think some people who have done stats before might find some points labouring (but surely they can read over these parts quickly), but this book is for the first timer.

The book is brilliant because of its first chapter that explains how statistics works together. ... Read More:

It's been over ten years since I completed my PhD. (I used SPSS version 3 for DOS). Having returned to research, I required an updated version with the latest tests, and a relevant introductory guide.

The tutorial gave me a basic impression. The textbook which I bought left me baffled and slightly phobic. Then someone sent me this. From page 1, I understood the basic principles, was reminded of things I'd forgotten, and I could deal with the few equations in the text. It was also interesting, reduced my phobia and indeed, allowed me to go back and understand my first text.

In short, this is a terrific introduction to some very complicated concepts.
