Having recently discovered I am pregnant with our first baby, I went looking for some books for information. Most seemed dry, full of scary accounts of all the things that could go wrong, and pictures of the developing baby in the womb. Yes, yes, I thought, but how is this going to affect US? Well, The bloke's Guide to Pregnancy answers that very question. Because my husband reads slowly, I read this before him, and found it to be spot on, funny AND useful. Now my husband is working his way thorugh it, and even a few pages in was saying 'ha ha, this bit's so tue'. This book contains much good advice and tips on how to improve and optimise your website. I like the fact he recommends you steer clear of unethical approaches such as hidden text, and that you should stick to simple html with a lot of text-based content that can be easily read. The other big factor in this book is it's compact size and straightforward short chapters, meaning you can concentrate on implementing one recommendation at a time. On the downside, some of the information is very outdated, considering the recent publication of the book itself. The True Story of the three little pigs was used greatly within my 1st year drama class at secondary school (Ages 11-12)and they loved it. I used the story as a context to do with stereotypes which lead on to many drama activities involving lawyers defending Mr Wolf, the pig community and witnesses of Mr Wolf. This lead on to a court case and even 't.v shows and documentaries' being created by the pupils to re-build or tarnish Mr Wolf's reputation!! An excellent story which created many meaningful, fun and diverse lessons!!

The Blokes guide books are absolutly fantastic, and a real must for all expectant fathers! The book is written in such a readable non-bulls$%t way, that it cannot fail to make you laugh, cry and think deeply about your forthcoming arrival. Yes it's humours, but it is FULL of useful and CRITICAL info. I read this book prior to attending any anti-natel classes, and found that when we went to the classes, I was actually one of the most knowledgable people in the room (except for the mid-wife!!!) I cannot recommend this book enough, but it, read it, and pass the word on to all your male friends! Lastly good luck with your little one!

I'd give it more stars if I could. I've got all the "Bloke's guides" from Jon Smith and have to say they have not only been invaluable but have given me such a humerous and insightful view of being a Dad. This guy is a real Dad and obviously speaks to more Dads then I could ever do in my lifetime! I purchased the guide to pregnancy which is a must have and this latest guide to gadgets is easily as good - honestly it's a mad world out there of items for your bundle of joy, but what's really worth the money and will be of use and most importantly what's the latest must have for your child - you'll be suprised what's out there -I was!
