"His Excellency" by Joseph Ellis, is about George Washington, but instead of focusing on what he did (Washington actions, we are assured, are widely written about elsewhere), it focuses on his psychology and presents his actions in terms of his psychological make-up. It's a clever book, because of its' emphasis, and I learned a great deal about Washington that I didn't know before. Excellent book. Upfront, I would have wanted to see more on his presidency, and more background on his wife, but that certainly is a minor complaint. Ellis has a great way of making history come alive, and does a good job of searching and presenting his "sauciness" in the favorable light that he deserves.
