The main city map was perfect, we ripped the cover off and took it everywhere with us. Simple to use and fairly concise in terms of the info about each entry. Nicely divided into sections for shops, food, highlights etc. Gave some nice ideas for walking tours. I personally would recommend this one over most others for its ease of use and simple entries.

We're currently completing the manuscript for the new edition, so the out-of-date content (well over 4-6 years old now!) you've reviewed is being updated (the reason I give our guide 4/5!) We're love Syria, as much as we love Lebanon. We've travelled to both countries myriad times over a decade. However, we weren't commissioned to write Syria for the edition you reviewed. Good but as with all travel guides you need the latest edition and this one is a bit dated. Dubai is changing so fast you must keep up to date.I also prefer smaller size guides that will fit the pocket. Lonely Planet is a bit too large to carry especially when the temperature is ove 100 F. But if you plan to go you must do the Big Bus Tour. It is the best introduction to the city.

Dubai is changing so fast you must keep up to date.I also prefer smaller size guides that will fit the pocket. Lonely Planet is a bit too large to carry especially when the temperature is ove 100 F.
