Books : Light That Never Was

As with all Lloyd Biggle Jr. books there is a strong "arts" bias to this work of science fiction. The story concerns a critic/buyer searching for the artist who painted a truly unworldly painting.

Set against the turmoil of a speciesist (read intolerant) movement on a previously happy planet the conspiracy subplot adds a serious note to an otherwise light hearted book. As always Biggle turs a jaundiced eye twoards the effects of tourism on the beauty it claims to apreciate.

While not his best book this is vintage biggle, and will be enjoyed by all who read it.

Books : The fury out of time (Doubleday science fiction)
This is the only story by this author that I have not rated four stars or above. Don't let it put you off if you have read it. His other works are well worth buying.

This one is an early work, trying in it's way to mirror "The time machine" (H G Wells), and while ti starts well with a mystery due to the unfortunate effects of the time experiment it fails to follow up, and degenerates into a rather piecemeal novel.

I cannot reccomend this book, but can reccomend this author.
