A book with short stories is always nice. Here you get 4 stories for the price of one. And it's a good way to discover new authors. I had only read books from Kelley Armstrong and Kim Harrison and liked what they did, so this probably was gonna be good ! And it was. In "Undead in the Garden of Good and Evil" Kim Harrison describes Ivy's 'early days' when she's hooked on blood and passion, not the strong willed Ivy we got to know in the other books. She did come a long way... If you haven't read anuthing from Kim Harrison, maybe this is a good place to start, at the beginning... I like paranormal romance, but not ordinarily stuff that involves werewolves or vampires, etc. In paranormal romance I usually prefer faeries and mostly urban fantasy fiction. I picked up this book at the library on a whim - Lori Handeland made me a convert, mainly to her fiction. Her story "Red Moon Rising" is a tale about a super secret group of government agents called the Jager-Sucher - they hunt down and kill monsters. Mix that with a writer suffering a terrible bout of writer's block living in an isolated cabin and a skin walker/werewolf who wants her dead and you have one suspense loaded tale. ...if you want a paranormal romance with a decent plot line, a plucky heroine, and a gorgeous male who has some secrets to hide....then this is the book for you! It is number 7 in the NIGHTCREATURE series by Lori Handeland, but the first book that I have read by her. I got HIDDEN MOON ad RISING MOON, number 6 in the series, out of my local library, and if you plan on starting the series with this book then that is what I would recommend for you! If, however, you are continuing the series, then I would buy this book because it is an exciting read. It's a good mix of action, danger, mystery and romance. This book is enjoyable to read and I would recommend it, but it's very similar to the authors previous Nightcreature Novels. Feisty woman meets dark brooding man, man turns out to be harboring a secret, oops the man's a warewolf. Kinda repetitive!

With Supernatural novels becoming such a hit these days it really is taking a lot for a different presentation on the old themes to come to the fore. Lori does a damn fine job with her interpretation of the old Werewolf genre and will present the reader with a similar leading lady to Laurell K Hamilton (although not quite so many sex scenes.) Aimed at the female teen market this tale will give you something to not only entertain but also to keep you glued right to the end it has elements of a Jackie Collins mixed in with a fiercely independent woman. With the second book in the series out in the next month or so in the UK this is perhaps something to keep an eye on as the genre will only grow considering the amount of tales that are currently sprouting. ... The second novel by Lori continuing in her alternate universe of our own world where she skillfully managed to blend ancient myth alongside modern monstrosities where the reader is asked to question as to whom the real monsters were. Wonderfully written although so far all of her female protagonists seem to all have had sexual hang ups only to want to rip the clothing off a specific male character (Love interest) within the first couple of hundred pages. Whilst this may be the case the scenes are delicately written and are there to aid in the further of emotional plot for the protagonists rather than just a free for all that certain other authors seem to do. I am becoming quite the paranormal addict. And the quality of books I'm getting my hands on isn't doing anything to alleviate my new-found passion. It was mainly vampires, but now I've discovered how cool werewolf novels can be too! However, this one is categorised on Amazon as being erotic, which I don't strictly agree with. Yes, the plot contains a fair bit of sex, but it's not graphic, and it's as a result of the relationship between two of the main characters. The erotic element isn't what moves the book along, and isn't a main focus. So if it's erotica you're after, you'll only get a very mild thrill from this novel. However, I digress. This was a good story, it had vodoo, werewolves, romance and a hero who is a bit on the shady side. The heroine is a woman with a past, which puts a different side to this book. This was fun to read and am looking forward to the authors next book.
