This is so disappointing. The bar is always high for Marian Keyes and this isn't a bad book, but...... It could have been so much better. Good central plot and some interesting characters but sloppily edited. Is the problem that Marian is so famous and such a good seller that her publishers don't dare tell her the truth? The book needs cutting and some careful editing. It also needs to lose the diary style which is inconsistent, irritating and unneccessary. If you want to know how to do diary, then read Alison Pearson. Please don't do this again Marian. You are one of the best around and this was rambling and undisciplined.

I cannot tell how much I enjoyed this book, I have forced many people to read it as a self - help book as it makes a lot of sense and says all the right things, the main character "Rachel" is the best of all Keyes books, perhapes that is because there is a lot of Marian's own experience written into the story, it made me laugh and it made me think about how completely unaware we can all be about what we are doing and the consequences of our own actions, I read this book in 2 days, it would have been quicker if I had been able to take the day off work to read it which I did think about doing as I loved this book soooooooooooo much right from the first couple of pages .

This was Marian's first tale about the Walsh family and as with all of them it has a wonderful mix of tears and laughter. Claire our heroine starts out as a victim, and you'll be cheering her on as she struggles to cope with a new baby, a slightly eccentric family, and her own low self esteem.

Very good, not my favourite Keyes book, but still enjoyable. Once again, Marian's characterization is excellent. I was rooting for Maggie, and also for poor old Garv, her husband. Though he has a short lived affair, there are reasons behind this. He still loves Maggie, who has not been perfect herself. This story is about Maggie recovering from a past love and two miscarriages. She finally puts the past behind her and realises where her place is - with Garv. Garv is lovely (yes, even though he slept with another woman, but not until Maggie actually left him). But like Maggie said to him, you can be unfaithful with your emotions, something she is also guilty of. The ending is just right. One of my favourite books. Marian stays faithful to her humorous style, but this book has a depth and personality to it that puts it right there at the top for me. I enjoy Marian Keyes' books, and Anna with her endearing personality and interesting life, combined with the romance she finds in this book topped with the typical and funny Walsh family situations, brought me to laughter, and also tears... For Keyes fans - this book is definitely worth a read.

This is my first Marian Keyes book i've read, and i really loved it! the characters were all so well written. I even thought Lorcan was hilarious, the way she wrote about his vanity was so funny, how he looked in the mirror and pointed to himself saying "don't go changin'" haha, i loved that bit. Admittedly, sometimes the main characters of Tara and Katherine were annoying at times. Especially Tara, when she moaned about been fat and then she'd eat a full loaf of toast or something! But i still liked her The only character i didnt really like (or hated) was Thomas, i wanted to punch him! He made my blood boil! i think this book is part of a project to give those adults who are learning to read, interesting books. from an interview i heard on the radio, adult learners are often given children's books. apart from being limiting, that could be very patronising. basically the book is short so as not to seem like an insurmountable challenge to a learner. i know amazon give the book's no. of pages, but perhaps given that keyes' books are normally long, they could have made the shortness of the book clearer. you can always return items to amazon if you don't like them

It's been a while since I've read any of Marian Keyes' books and I don't know why. Her books have an instant feel-good factor, and as the title suggests, makes you want to snuggle up under the duvet with a big bar of chocolate. I thoroughly enjoyed the journalistic articles in the book but I didn't really take to a couple of the short stories or the Mammy Walsh problem pages. I just lost interest, maybe because I was really longing for more of the true-life stuff. I haven't read the first book "Under the Duvet" and I will definitely be rushing out to buy a copy. Marian Keyes is a great writer and long may she keep writing!

Expected a quick easy read - although over 700 pages in a book is never going to be quick...... The whole book has a light and fluffy view of a 20s something's life in the big city which feels like it has been done too many times. The book was very predictable but had an interesting dimension added with the main character's depression and her ways of dealing with it. I have read quite a few Marian Keyes books and she has improved over the years. As her second book this is not a particularly good book - it still has a very naive approach and follows a well used mould. Her later books use similar themes but somehow do it in a more exciting way.
