Love Martin Clunes, love dogs, loved his recent documentary about dogs - so all good. This book does tally with the tv programme about history of dogs but the bits I actually enjoyed best are his own personal history with dogs and his present day trials, tribulations and joys with them. Just one thing - I'd love to know how Mary is these days.

Yes! could have been more appropriately titled as Influence 2 because the book is simply a series of brief examples that illustrate Professor Robert Cialdini's key principles described in his book, Influence (social proof, authority, commitment/consistency, scarcity, reciprocity, and personal liking). If you loved that book and want to dive deeper into its lessons, Yes! is a perfect choice. If you haven't yet read Influence, I recommend that you read that book before this one. Without Professor's explanations of why these principles work, the case histories in Yes! don't seem so special and interesting. Such a useful and well put together book. Not only does it provide easily-referenced statistical information, as one might expect in such a tome, but also the editorial is authoritive, insightful, and immensely readable. For anyone interested in the British music scene this is an invaluable resource, and a fascinating read.

Ok on basic UK law but incredibly weak on international law including errors (The Inter-American system of Human Rights does not just cover South America. It covers all member states of the OAS including in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America, with differences depending on whether the American Convention has been ratified or not). Oxford - and lawyers - should not be so lazy.

This book truely was gripping. For one which is over 800 pages long, I was amazed at how quickly I finished it. Firstly, it must be said, this is the most realistic fantasy book I have read, and the world has many links to the history of Britain. From different families turning on each other in every battle, to having a wall in the North to keep creatures out. The story may not be an epic tale (such as Lord of the Rings) but that doesn't prevent it from being incredible. Its a lot more down to Earth, believable, and intrigueing. The characters are well developed and the story itself is told from the viewpoints of eight different viewpoints (Eddard, Catelyn, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Tyrion and Daenarys). A fantastic book to serve as an introduction to the complex issue of Africa post World War 2. What makes it such a great book is how straightforward and easy to read it is. However this proves to be it's weakness at times as well, as often it feels like certain issues, in particular economic analysis feels like it is being brushed over in order to make the book easier to read. Which is a harsh critique, but I cannot pay the book any more of a compliment then stating how much of an eye opener the book was and how it has asked many questions, questions I seek to answer by reading more books about topics covered in the text.
