I visited New York for the first time last Nov and I was given a mini rough guide to New York by a friend. I would have been lost without it. It was a bible in my bag. I am due to visit the big apple again in Jan and I decided to purchase the full rough guide to New York and I am not disappointed. I have also order the mini rough guide to carry round New York when I get there. The information contained within the book is well written and informative. The maps at the back are a god's send and must not be under estimated in the overall picture and use of this product. I would recommend this title to anyone wanting a comprehensive guide of New York.

I am usually a fan of the Rough Guides range of travel books. However I found this one really difficult to use. The maps didn't cross reference easily meaning you had to hunt through each separate section using another map to find what you were looking for. Trying to find a recommended restaurant was almost impossible. On the plus side the introduction was very useful and details regarding rules and regulations for the more religious areas of Rome were excellent. There are some good hints and tips in here but overall the book was too complicated to use and as such stayed in the hotel room.

Good detail useful tips on restaurants, travel language,nightlife and places to see. It really helped to maximise what you can do and see on short break I have used rough guides in Brussels, Rome and France. I highly recommend them!

Good detail useful tips on restaurants, travel language,nightlife and places to see. It really helped to maximise what you can do and see on short break I have used rough guides in Brussels, Rome and France. I highly recommend them!

I've taken my Rough Guide to the Amalfi Coast, Lake Maggoire, and when travelling across the north of the country and it has been an invaluable companion. It gives great maps, tells you where to avoid (which comes in handy as I travel alone at 17)and gives great information about the hotspots which I otherwise would have missed. Whatsmore it gives fascinating accounts of the Camorra gangsters of Naples and of course of the Mafia as well as filling me in on the history of this fascinating and diverse country. Don't leave home without it!
