I got this book after reading Amazon reviews and at a time when I was feeling very low, after I'd just given birth to my baby girl. This book made me feel worse! Tracy Hogg implies that if you don't get positive results after following her advice, then you are probably guilty of 'accidental parenting. This is NOT the message you want to hear when you are suffering from Post Natal Depression and struggling with a baby who doesn't appear to 'fit in' with any of her clever little 'categories'. In the end I took my fiance and families' advice and followed my own instincts..which proved to be the best course of action after all.
In summary, don't beat yourself up like I did when it doesn't all magically work Miss Hogg's way. Just enjoy ... Read More:

Books : Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby
This book is amazing. I read it whilst I was pregnant as I'd had very little experience looking after babies, and was worried I wouldn't know what to do! It covers EVERYTHING and is very easy to read.

When my baby was born I found it invaluable to have around and kept dipping in and out at the relevant chapters. The method is very loving and gentle for your baby, and helps your baby to gain confidence and independence. There is a really useful section about crying and body language, and how to learn what the different cries and movements mean. I found that within days I knew exactly why my baby was crying and what to do. Then I learnt to watch her body language and most of the time now I can predict what she wants before she starts ... Books : The Baby Whisperer Answers All Your Questions: Beyond the Basics from Infancy Through Toddlerhood
I have found this book a godsend. I didn't get it until my son was 6 months old and wish I'd had it earlier. The best thing about this book is that it doesn't paint all children with the same brush. Babies are different and at least the late Tray Hogg knew this and identified the 6 main types of child knowing that some children were mixtures of types. I've had some Gina Ford books and found the advice rather unhelpful for my spirited child as her books tend to put all babies in the same box with no regard for personality.

Tracy helps steer you away from the quick fixes which lead to "accidental parenting" and if you have made any quick fixes which are now an every day occurance, she doesn't scold, rather she helps you break it. Best thing is, she ... Read More:

Books : Secrets of the Baby Whisperer for Toddlers
As a new parent I was advised to read this book by a friend.
I have worked with children for over 10 years now as a nanny, carer and social worker, none of this was as hard as being a parent.
I think this book confirms alot of my previous training and understanding. What this book does is give you the tools to put good ideas into practice.
My little one is a happy content toddler now and I believe this book has played a part in that. I'm just about to buy the Baby Whisperer for toddlers.

Books : Watch Me Fly: What I Learned on Becoming the Woman I Was Meant to Be
This book is a heart-wrenching autobiography of a timid, young southern girl raised and influenced by two strong African American women, her grandmother and aunt, who prepared Myrlie to face a lifetime of struggle and survival. Myrlie Evers-Williams is a formidable personality and role-model.

I especially enjoyed the book's focus on Myrlie's personal life as opposed to the Civil Rights Movement, and the way I could relate to many of the childhood traditions she was raised by. Her suffering brought tears to my eyes as I read, as well as, a feeling of validation and peace in the direction of my life. At one juncture, Myrlie referred to her tendency to repress an observation until it was grammatically structured in her mind to perfection, thus running the risk of another more confident ...
