i was looking for a book to give me an idea on how a slr works with easy to understand writting. however i found that even the introduction was hard to understand if you are new to the scene.
so i must say i made a mistake buying this item purely because i needed something less complicated.
do not buy this item if you want something easy to read and are new to the world of photography. however if you already have a background of the subject then im sure it will be fine.

Books : The Digital SLR Handbook
As someone relatively new to Digital SLR's (but not photography) this gave me a brief overview however I found it a bit waffley and did not really get into assisting with getting the most out of your digital SLR camera. It covered a lot of things but not in any great depth.

I would highly recommend a couple of other books to look at as well if you are looking for a book of this type : (1) The Book of Digital Photography by Chris George or (2) The Digital Photography Book Volume 2 by Scott Kelby.

I bought this book when there were no reviews, so just had to hope for the best, and I was very pleased with my choice.
I'm studying for a foundation degree in professional photography at college and bought the book as I was doing a project on HDR Imaging and needed to master the subject quite quickly, as well as use it for my written research.
The book starts off with loads of in-depth technical information about light and dynamic range, which was great for me, but might seem a bit daunting for some people. Then it tells you how to actually take the HDR image and put it together in a variety of different software programs. I prefer to use Adobe Photoshop CS3 but you need to buy the tone-mapping plug-in to get the full effect (it's not ... Read More:

Even though I am a complete beginner I found this an excellent book. It is quite technical in construction but is clearly written and easily accesible. All the main HDR tonemapping software are covered with many examples, the use of HDR in panoramic shots and several project outlines. I would reccomend this book both beginner and expert.

I was lucky enough to find this second hand for a fiver! but its worth every penny [...] if you're serious about the topic. For a university course [...]is excessive, but it's a fantastic book to help with writing essays and looking good in exams.
