This is the follow-on book to Mike Spick's excellent "Luftwaffe Fighter Aces: The Jagdflieger And Their Tactics and Techniques". Just as the first book focused on the German aces, this one focuses on the Allied aces. Each is presented with a brief bio of their military career, flight habits, and favorite maneuvers. The book is illustrated with diagrams showing how each maneuver is performed. If you enjoyed "Luftwaffe Fighter Aces" you'll enjoy this book as well. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in aviation, military history, or PC flight simulators. Its a good prelude to Robert Shaw's "Fighter Tactics and Maneuvers", and is much more interesting to read.

I was surprised that an alternate history left out the point that the US came into the war in Europe because Germany declared war on them - not the other way round. After Pearl Harbor the US declared war on Japan but not on Germany and Italy. But Hitler burned his bridges and declared war on the US two days later. If he had held his water it is quite possible that there would have been no strategic bombing offensive, no invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Normandy and a separate peace with Russia. The Pacific War would have gone the same way but the war in Europe could have made that irrelevant anyway. Hitler ended up making life much easier for the allies than it needed to be.
