I recently bought 'Stick up for Yourself - Every Kid's Guide to Personal Power' and was so impressed with it that I decided to order the Teachers (or Parents) Guide to equip me to make the most of this book which opens the door to a crucial learning curve for children (and adults). I found it to be clearly laid out which helps one to stay with the subject and not go off at a tangent. It's compares to someone taking one by the hand and leading one through, ensuring that nothing of importance is missed and that we continue at the pace of the child. It has met my highest expectations and has sent us on a journey of discovery. If only this subject was on the school curriculum we would have less challenges from bullies, cliques ... Read More:

6.The Shield of Three Lions by: Pamela Kaufman
1984-09
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : The Shield of Three Lions
This book, and the sequel, Banners of Gold, are definitely different from the usual historical fiction/romance! Alix of Wanthwaite is 10 years old, when her parents are killed. Her father sends her, in his dying breath of course, to seek audience with the king, to restore the family estate. Alix travels disguised as a boy, and ends up on crusade in her efforts to petition King Richard. The story line may not be unusual, but the writing style is, the historical research is excellent, the characters are well drawn, and the whole is a bawdy, lively trip into the past, seen through the eyes of a rather spoilt, wilful, and resourceful young girl.
