We bought this book, published in 1971, when our 30 year-old was just 3 and it proved an enduring favourite for the whole family. It is one of the few books which our children insisted that we kept, even now, and one which we still catch them smiling at in their postgraduate gainfully employed maturity. The DVD might be good but little children deserve the fun of reading the book first with a grown-up to help them notice the delightful humour in the drawings. Don't hesitate - just buy it and enjoy it!

As a primary school teacher, I used to read this to my Year 1 class. The mixed up shopping list is so irresistably 'correctable' the children would be almost yelling with frustration and enjoyment to put it right! I'm buying it for christmas for my 3 yr old neice as I know she'll love it.

Pat Hutchin's "Titch," first published in 1971, tells of poor little Titch, who has a sister Mary, who was a bit bigger, and a brother Peter, who was a lot bigger. It seems everything his big brother and sister have is always bigger and better than what Twitch has to play with each day. But then one day Titch discovers that something little can grow very big indeed.

If you have a family like I do, where there is a boy, a girl and a baby, then "Titch" is a nice way of letting your youngest know that being the youngest does not always mean that you have the least important role to play. Hutchins tells his story with an economy that will make an impression on any young child old enough to recognize that being the youngest is not a lot ... Read More:

6.Good-Night, Owl! by: Pat Hutchins

Books : Good-Night, Owl!
Both my children as well as all my nephews and nieces have loved this book. Simple storey, owl is trying to sleep but the other birds and animals in the tree keep making noise and keep him awake. No child can resist the chance to repeat the noises and will love the chance to identify the characters in the tree. Great repeat value as this book can be read again and again to the child without boring him. Suitable once the child is starting to mimic sounds (say 18 months) until about 3 years old

Books : The House That Sailed Away (Red Fox funny stories)
I really enjoyed this book - it is one of my best books. It is a story of buried treasure, pirates and lots more scary things. They need to help each other to get themselves out of the mess. They need to find help - but do they get help? Do they get back home safely? Read the book to find out! This book is a put down with funny parts and scary tense parts. We all love this book especially when we read it at school - laughs were echoing around the classroom. It is a book of friendship, bravery and fortune.
