Books : India (Lonely Planet Country Guide)
and the best guide I've come across for India. Packed with detail and a reasonable cultural/ historical introduction. Maps are great, the timetables are pretty accurate, the opening times and prices are correct...

There are some very bad LP guides out there. Vietnam springs to mind. But LP India has been consistently good throughout the years. I think I've used 4 versions of the guidebook and have been pleased with the improvements everytime.

Obviously the negativities are that it is pretty big but how else are you supposed to cram in all that information.

6.Mastering the Isda Master Agreement: A Practical Guide for Negotiations (FT Market Editions) by: Paul Harding

This is an incredibly useful book for professionals involved in the preparation and negotiation of ISDA documentation. The overview of the Master Agreements is very clear (and helpfully set out) with legal and commercial issues being identified and addressed succinctly but in enough detail to be meaningful. On my desk the book comes into its own in its review of the negotiation of Schedules and, although it cannot cover off all possible counterparties or every issue on complex transactions, it is the best treatment of these documents I have come across. Highly recommended.

Books : The Bluffer's Guide to Marketing (Bluffers Guides)
I first bought this book about 10 years ago when I found myself starting on the marketing corporate ladder, it tells you everything you need to know about the industry, who does what, what advertising does and doesn't do, what the the job titles mean, and more importantly what the jargon actually means! I'm now a head of marketing and yet I still regularly read my copy (just to check !) and give copies to new starts in marketing (and old hands who should know better) Trust me - one read through will teach you more than any course by a 'marketing guru'

I'd bought my flight tickets, travel insurance and the all important Visa for entering India. Next on the list was the guide book. It was a choice of this one or the Rough Guide.

Both were published around the same time, and I've used both before for different countries, so I'm happy with their layout and content. However, choosing the right guide this time seemed far more difficult.

Both contained detailed information about the places I plan to visit. However, I found some bits were present in one book, but not the other, and vice-versa. In the end I decided to go for both books. I'm travelling in South India for 3 months, so I thought it would be worth the luxury of having two guides.

Books : The Millennium Atlas of Butterflies in Britain and Ireland
This is a major reference work. Whatever they say it's not a light-weight book designed to be pretty or field portable. M.G. Pennington's review is excellent, just beware the newcommer that this is 100% NOT the book you use outside when trying to identify the fluttering thing you are looking at. Get another book for that (I vote Tom Tolman's work for that). This is for understanding what that fluttering thing you have already identified was all about, or where you might hope to meet a particular type of butterfly. Invaluable. There has also been at least one update published on the butterfly conservation website, though I think that's since become a book in its own right. If you have any possible interest in butterflies, get a decent field ... Read More:

10.New Zealand (Lonely Planet Country Guide) by: Tony Wheeler

Books : New Zealand (Lonely Planet Country Guide)
I bought this for a trip round the whole of New Zealand and was amazed to find the level of detail within the book. I actually travelled with both this and the Footprint guide (which certainly contains more info, although probably more on where to stay). I would have to say Lonely Planet wins hands down on New Zealand in terms of quality, readability and interest.

The standard Lonely Planet structure is adopted, providing the reader with a history, general information on the country for the visitor, suggestions for activities and itineries, a vast amount of info on sights to see and lots of useful maps.

The sights info is broken up into region and neatly follows a trip going from the north to the south. The index makes it easy ... Read More:
