Although we were generally happy with our lives, there were some things that hadn't worked out the way we'd hoped. very clever marketing and description as you think it is going to be a true sequel book i.e. actually including some text - but it is really a lined notepad. What is really very clever is that of course if you are annoyed and want to return the item, you are thinking negative thoughts, which is against the ethos of "The Secret" so you start to think "perhaps I should just be happy and think good thoughts" and not return it - that, I think is what the author/publisher is banking on, that most people will just ride along and think "hey, I'm living the secret, so I am happy that I spent money on this book...." :-)

Loved the DVD and it really opened my eyes even if it's a bit too Hollywood (you know like the Gillete ads)and makes claims that seem too good (or too bad depending on your point of view) to be true. The book then answers many of the questions raised /claims made in the DVD so they work well together. The DVD gets you salivating and then the book fills you up. You can interpret The Secret (aka The Law of Attraction) as sort of positive thinking taken to it's logical conclusion ("thoughts become things") or interpret it more spiritually. Although my god Rhonda Byrne is claiming a lot for the Law of Attraction in The Secret (as in you want in it, you beleive in it, you do what the books says, you get it!). Still even if only 1% of ... I am in complete agreement with the idea that our thoughts need to be carefully marshaled and focused on what we want. My comments focus on how Ms. Byrne has expressed that point in this book. Everyone I know swears by the DVD version of The Secret. I decided to read the book first and then look at the DVD. In grading this book, I am comparing The Secret to the many books that encourage you to create your own reality through mental focus including books written by those quoted in The Secret.
