If you like the film version of the Bourne series then theses are a must read as they are so so much better stories. I watched the first film then picked up the trilogy to carry on the story but was suprised that the story was tottaly different, with very few simularities to the film, the whole premise of why Bourne was created is detailed inside the first book, to entrap the legendary Carlos the Jackyl, who does not even feature in the films at all, the second film has a few simularities but the third film only shares the main character Bourne, the rest is just screenplay. These books really gripped me, I found myself reading at every spare minute to get back into Bourne's world, superbly written as you would expect from Ludlum, and a must ... Read More:

I think that the book is superior to the film and am AMAZED that some other reviewers have commented otherwise (notably those I see who saw the film first and thus perhaps read the book impatiently, KNOWING, the plot and outcome.

I read this book 20 years ago and it is still, to this day, a book I highly regard amongst the plethera of books I have read in the meantime. I was skeptical when Damon was cast as Bourne as, at that time, I thought him too lightweight. HOWEVER, I did go to see the movie and have to say he was brilliant and I loved him and he isn't lightweight at all.

For those unfamiliar with the book and movie, this is the first in a trilogy of books/now movies about an American citizen of unknown name seeking ... Read More:

If you were hooked with Identity then this book takes the story forward in time, and is good fun. It could do with editing down a bit as I agree it gets a bit slow in the middle but I enjoyed it. I would give Identity 5 stars, Supremacy 3 stars and Ultimatum 4 stars. The films has little to do with the book except the title and Jason Bourne.

The first book of the trilogy (Identity) is by far the best, and the associated films a disappointment with little to do with the books. This book is good if you enjoyed the first two books, and is a better read than the second. Medusa comes back to life in a new form, and the plots and twists take us to Paris to meet the Jackal, the States and islands to fight off the Mafia, plus most of Europe finally to Russia to the KGB and the "birthplace" of the Jackal. Conklin, Panov are very much part of the Webb family. If anything the story is a bit far fetched, but quite fun and a bit of a send up in a James Bond type style of latter films. The first book was much more worrying and realistic in terms of what the USA intelligence service could get up compared ... Read More:

unfortunately I will never be able to get back the 20 minutes of my life I wasted reading the first 50 or so pages of this book.

If like me you were a fan of Robert Ludlum's three Bourne novels this will be a great disapointment. Mr Ludlum when constructing his three novels built a central core of four characters who were all essential to the story, David Webb/Jason Bourne, Marie, Conklin and Mo Panov. The last three were the way that David Webb was able to fight his way back from Jason Bourne.

Mr Van Lustbader however managed to kill off two of the three in the first 50 pages!! Then the premise that he used for his story made a total mockery of the original reason that David Webb became Jason Bourne in the first place!!

So I would advise ... Read More:

I have read all Ludlum's books (except the posthumous ones) - this is my favourite, perhaps his best. There is also the "Gemini Contenders" (which gives Dan Brown's Code a run for its money by the way), but still "Parsifal" has that little thing that makes it more clever. Maybe the fact that you actually meet "Parsifal" in the middle of the book in a quite innocuous way, never thinking it might be him, and then at the end, lo and behold ! This moment is like Alice Starling ringing at the door and facing Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs. This kind of perfect "this is so clever" emotion is scarce in books. In Parsifal Mosaic Ludlum manages this, this is why it is, in my view, his best.

Any fan of Robert Ludlum knows he wrote good ones and, shall we say, not so good ones (especially after he died). This is one of the good ones. The usual formula - exciting plot, great hero, excellent writing.

A woman who's just inherited $12m, a US secret agent kidnapped, his best friend on a vigilante mission to rescue him, a modern day philosopher with the best intentions and almost limitless funds, and a mysterious entity that seems to strike fear into the very heart of governments, corporations and individuals in it's bid to dominate the world. All are masterfully drawn together in this fantastic story that will have you gasping for breath each time you close the cover - not that you'll want to close it! On more than occasion the plot will send you reeling much the same as a well placed slap in the face would.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great spy or action story, it's got generous helpings of both, complimented brilliantly by slower-paced ... Read More:

There's a lot to like about this book - it's generally exciting, there are several interesting threads that weave their way together as the story progresses, there are some strong characters. There are also some annoyances, such as some rather cardboard cut-out characters (Professor Trowbridge springs to mind here), a couple of very cheesy scenes and some rather unlikely events. However this book has the sort of action you'd expect in this genre of story and it doesn't disappoint.

When a scientific party discover a crashed aeroplane on remote Wednesday Island in the Canadian Arctic it sets in train a whole series of actions. It turns out that the Russian plane is over fifty years old and that when it crashed it may have been carrying an anthrax payload. The Americans want to ... Read More:

As happens many people I picked up a newer covert one novel a few months back and was pleasantly suprised at how good it was. The main character Jon Smith had a real edge to his character and a great story behind him. So this led me to the start of the series ie here. This novel is about Jon Smith in his pre covert one days and the events that lead up to him becoming a member.

The plot itself is good based around a incurable virus that has spread accross the world and the people who are using it to their own advantages. Step in Smith to save the day by travelling all over the globe and with a help of a few friends everyone needs a friend who's ex SAS.

A great book with great characters and a good starting bloc kfor the covert one series of novels. Once you ... Read More:
