This book was recommended as pre-course reading for the LLB. I'd already got the Glanville Williams one, which would have been fine if I was studying law in 1850, but this is SO much more useful in every respect. It's a manual of 'how to do everything' with plenty of substance and academic weight but written so that anyone can make sense of it.

The Law express books are generally good at simplifying the law - Its true that they may be oversimple - but they are not designed as a text book and can give an interesting P.O.V in certain situations. The only problem i found with this book, and which has made me cautious about trusting it is the glaring error on page 36 and 37 with regards to the state of the law, this book was published in 2007 and yet fails to mention that in that specific area (eggshell skull rule and loss resulting from claimants impecuniosity) the law has been different since 2003!!! - i have other books from 2004 which dont miss this point! In a law series this really is unnacceptable - you would have though somebody would have checked - Its not that difficult! ... Read More:

This is a useful, clear revision aid but it was out of date on fraud even at the time of publication in 2007; the authors(writing in 2006) did not even mention the Fraud Act 2006, or at least the Bill going through Parliament. It has been in force since January 2007. Chapter 15 on Deception offences is seriously misleading because of this omission. I see there's a new edition coming out with this chapter replaced by one on Fraud and if I had realised this I would have waited to buy that.

Seriously this is one of the best books I've ever bought!!! It has helped me to prepare for seminars as well as lectures and even sometimes used it as my main source of study notes since it covered everything required for certain chapters! It was also especially helpful as regards difficult chapters such as UCTA and UTCCR and has helped me to prepare for problem questions up to the point of achieving 70% in my assessments! If it wasn't for Law Express i would had probably not even passed contract law.

I have a teacher who cant teach excepetionally well and one of the girls in my class suggested this book to help me with my A levels. Well i did the exam in January and recently got my results back. from learning from this book i came out of the exam feeling confident and when my results came through i was ecstatic. I got 110 out of 120, thats an A. I was so pleased that this book helped me when my teacher couldnt. Thank you for this book.

... I've been given a take home test that if I don't pass I will be off the course. I bought a series of books in the summer leading up to the start of the course, highly rated ones I'll have you know. All those books are completely useless. But not this one! (Actually that's a bit harsh on the other books, they're good for contextualising my learning.) Anyway, back to the point; if this book was a pint it would be a John Smiths i.e NO NONSENSE. Anything you want to know it tells you, and it doesn't faff about like the other books. If you want to do well on the CPE you cannot depend on the law express series, nevertheless it's style goes straight for the jugular of law, so you're not sitting there trying to cut the wheat from the chaff for ...
