Bought the book as it was a recommended summer read, and I have always been interested in India and the connections to British "rule". Was not dissapointed, enjoyed the book, liked the characters and the places visited by them, about a time of change. Cannot vouch for its accuracy, but feel that a lot of effort was made by the author. Believe there was a small error in the part when they were in Cairo, and will try to pass this on. Liked it and was happy I made that choice.

I finished the books last night for the fourth time (in the space of a couple of years...) and was in a cab going home. I kept crying and crying and felt so very sad even though i know what was coming. The first time I finished reading the book I kept thinking non stop about Clare and Henry for days and days. This is the most amazing book I have read and very likely to ever read. It is the story of true love conquering everything and what amazing creatures human beings are! I can never recommend this book enough and I do so to everyone I talk about books. Read it and you will be excited, happy, sad, enlightened.

My partner and I have been so grateful to the friends who bought us this book! It really does contain everything you need to know, and has been very reassuring for me as someone who tends to worry a lot about everything! Even my partner has read large chunks (something he has not done with the other books we have). I particularly liked the step by step weekly guide which was incredibly informative. The photography is amazing and the narrative is very well informed (by properly qualified professionals). Buy this for yourself and your pregnant friends - they'll be forever grateful.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book considering the last two made me wonder why I kept on with the series. I enjoyed the interaction between Nicholas and Lara and how he had to readjust his Carpathian male way of thinking. However, the men appear even more chauvinistic in this book which grated on me. Although the males with lifemates seem to agree with them about their right to fight, when an argument ensues the males with lifemates appear patronising especially as the women were 'treated' to their males fighting flawlessly as they didn't have to worry about them. Two other things that bothered me was the abruptness of the ending. As usual, a brilliant turn from Ms Atkinson. Her book are always unputdownable - my only complaint is that I get through them too quickly. Someone should go through this book and count the number of bodies - it must number in the hundreds! This book has a much darker tone than her previous two crime novels. I loved the character of Reggie but did find her story rather far-fetched - how many unusual things can happen to one person in one day? And I also found the conning of Jackson at the end a bit far-fetched and unbelievable. He just doesn't seem the type to marry someone after just four months. Can anyone help me with a loose strand of the plot that I can't tie up: Dr Hunter gave Andrew Decker the gun and persuaded him somehow to commit suicide, but when did ... Read More:

This is the second book I have read of CB's and was not dissapointed. I do however have to concede I enjoyed his last book Unsinkable Rubber Ducks more. It's difficult to say why, because both are really well crafted books that keep the reader engaged. I just felt that this didnt quite hit the bullseye regarding any real humour and its slightly convoluted plotline.Having said all that I would really recommend anyone to read a Brookmyre novel.
