I have read many autobiographies but this one i had to skip several pages it was so boring - too much DAD and too much Clarissa and drink. I was not a fan before and certainly am not now. what came across was that her view was the 'right one' and everyone else was wrong she obviously cannot listen or debate a point if it conflicts with her own view point and what a parasite, if she does not have someone to lean on then she cannot function. in a word the book was BORING.

Some great hints for choosing and preparing game. Recipes easy to follow and the results well photographed. Offputting though is the childish ultra right-wing ranting from Ms Dickson Wright which prevents me from scoring higher.

I actually bought this book for my Dad who loves Johnny Scott's fantastic witty writing style. However it never even got to the wrapping stage. I love the fact that he is keeping a tradition alive. My boyfriend and I have cooked for all my friends and he is very proud to show off his new found skills. The cooking section is very good but very same same as other books. What makes the book more special and worth buying is the personable and charming of Johnny Scott. Thankyou very much

Books : Two Fat Ladies: Gastronomic Adventures (with Motorbike and Sidecar)
This book was the product of a TV series written with the intention of rebelling against the modern industrialisation, consumerisation, industrial production and commercial debasement of food. The Ladies wittily and elegantly subvert what we are told to think about food with realistic, easy and absolutely delicious dishes, emphasizing the quality of ingredients (fom top-class fore-rib of beef to picking the very best from the butcher's affordable sausages) and the respectful care with which a cook should treat food. Despite their much-vaunted (and over-emphasized) eccentricity, and undeniable poshness, these Ladies have a true and rich understanding of good food and of how to use it and celebrate it to its best advantage. They are an inspiration, and ... Read More:

If, like me, you enjoy watching the Two Fat Ladies on TV then this book is a must have. Combining the recipes from the third series with many more great British dishes this book has helped me cook dozens of successful meals. (And best of all I get to enjoy the food from the book every time I go there to eat!) Buy it.

This is an excellent book; the Scottish kitchen is too often portrayed as nothing but broth and bothy, dismissed as nothing haughtier than oat cuisine without writers placing the food in historical context. Clarissa, that much-loved trencherwoman and erudite cicerone of the British cuisine, has rectified this. Her entertaining and warm book places gamey, fishy, rooty Scotland in its European heartland, in relation to Rome, France and the Mediaeval empire not merely in relation to its softer southern sister.
Perhaps Clarissa can next turn her attention to English, Irish and Welsh foods - regionally-specific companions to this volume would be fab.
