Although a lifelong fan of Agatha Christie,these Tuesday Club stories were rather spoilt for me by having a female narrator. I would have preferred a male rather than the familiar Miss Marple voice of Joan Hickson. At times it was confusing as the mainly male characters were telling their own stories but narrated by Miss Hickson,and despite everything she never lost her distinctive Miss Marple voice! (One of the characters in each story was also Miss Marple). I shall not be purchasing the second set of stories as they are also narrated by Joan Hickson who detracted from my listening pleasure.

This book is not exactly high quality writing of the level of Jane Austin but it isn't trying to be, it's more like a gripping Dan Brown detective novel but with the added bonus of being well written. The book moulds interesting multiple stories with history which is by and large accurate. Definitely worth a read.

I like listening to audio CD's in my car on the drive to work and this didn't let me down. Initial impressions are excellent, the CD's are stored in a gun metal tin inside a cardboard sleeve. Inside the tin the disks are held in individual cardboard sleeves. As a Bond fan I had a smile when I noticed there were seven disks, all labelled 001, 002 etc... The story is read by Jeremy Northam, defiantly a voice for Bond. His style of reading suits the story well and draws you in and holds you there. The story itself is said to be written "as Ian Fleming". I wonder who decided to give it that strap line. It's true the story picks up where Fleming's James Bond stories left off. "The Blue Geranium" contains the last six stories of the book "The Thirteen Problems" ("The Blue Geranium", "The Four Suspects", "The Companion", "A Christmas Tragedy", "The Herb of Death" and "The Affair at the Bungalow"). "The Bloodstained Pavement" includes the first seven stories of the book. You can actually buy an audiobook by Mistery Masters Series from amazon.com that includes both parts and is much cheaper (shipping and handling included, especially if you do not live in UK), by the name of "The Tuesday Club Murders", also read by Joan Hickson, although there's a small problem with the labelling of the cds, which is mostly wrong (the stories are interchanged but in order). Ian Rankin was born in the Kingdom of Fife in 1960. His list of books is now into the thirties and this book is number seventeen in his enormously popular Rebus series. He lives with his wife and two sons in Edinburgh. I have not read very many of Ian Rankin's novels, Inspector Rebus or otherwise. What I can say is that the two or three of his most recent novels that I have read have been extremely enjoyable. Exit Music set in Edinburgh is like a breath of fresh air after being fed a diet of American thrillers set in the smog filled streets of New York or San Francisco. Once again, Lynda La Plante gives a thoroughly gripping read. The characters jump to life and give the impression that you are part of the scene of investigations, and the police teams investigating the series of events. The storyline has topical issues, and some sinister practices. Overall, an excellent read.

THIS NOVEL WAS ONE OF AGATHA CHRISTIES FAVOURITES.IT DOESNT FEATURE ANY OF THE REGULAR DETECTIVES BUT RATHER A YOUNG MAN NAMED CHARLES WHO NEEDS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF A MURDER CONCERNING THE DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY OF HIS FIANCEE SOPHIE.THE STUDY OF THE CHARACTERS IS INTERESTING AND THE TWIST IN THE STORY UNEXPECTED.

This is the first time Paul meets Steve, and she remains true to the character throughout the series. As Paul is a batchelor at the start of this story it sets up the detective partnership for all the rest.An ingenious plot, but with a few errors in time and distance, however these hardly matter. and the story is very enjoyable.
