A friend recommended The Alchemist to me a few years ago, and I've only now got around to reading it. Looking at the reviews on this site, it seems a lot of people are critical of the simple style of writing, and the repetitive structure. Personally, I liked the simple, poetic style of writing. I'm not religious, and approach life from a scientific perspective, but I didn't mind the supernatural elements of the plot- they weren't the key message. Coelho's message in this book is nothing new- to follow your dreams and to be awake to the possibilities within yourself, but he illustrates it poetically, and focuses on details of the plot that often are overlooked. I find this a handy reference when trying to get to grips with tricky conditions that are stubborn to overcome without aggressive drug intervention. Delving into the subconscious is a skill and not always straighforward, and the suggested thought patterns are definitely worth consideration. The statements may not totally line up for everyone with the same condition, so adjusting the phrasing may be necessary until it rings absolutely true. I see this work more from the viewpoint that more kindness and tenderness is needed in a world that is steeped in conflict and aggression, and where better then to start by being kind and tender to ourselves. I enjoyed this book when I read it and have given copies to friends and family to read. Take out the nonsense areas like its all your fault when something major goes wrong .... scary statement indeed, and some of it makes sense. You can have so much more in life and all it takes is focus and belief ... if you can truly beleive it, you can acheive it. So much of this is taken out of context and without the incredible power that comes from the great master himself Napoleon Hill. I would urge you to read or listen to the 6 set cd series by napeleon hill ... This book is so good it should be compulsary reading in schools. If every person lived their lives according to the wisdom of this book we would have no wars, no inequality, we'd respect other life forms and our environment, and we'd all be happier. Jimmy Hendrix said: 'When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.' Those people who crave power are those with the most powerful eogs. If these people become aware thay they are infected with the ego disease they would surely embrace the power of love. In years to come this book will become known as the one that helped cure humanity of the ultimate cancer that is the ego. Amazing!!!

This is another of those books that needs to be read from beginning to end... diving in and looking at the "interesting bits" (using the index) will not do the book justice. There is much in this world that we do not understand... and probably never will... but we are getting there. Books such as "The Divine Matrix" and "Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer" lead us to understand that we are all connected (irrespective of religious or cultural background)... and that we have much to learn from each other.

theres always one (and its often the same one) who demolishes the reviews section with a comment like this is the second best chakra clearing book, and thendoesn't tell the rest of dirty, blocked chakra'd folk which is the best way of clearing our chakras...tell us guru jamieson, enlighten us, have you per chance written a book....to share generously the great chakra clearing wisdom of the Jamieson...

I remember reading this book around the same time I read Rich Dad Poor Dad. It was a very heavy read - far too much to digest in one round. Worth reading, but it took an enormous amount of concentration - not one to read on the tube.

Really, I dont undertstand how anyone could have given this book 5 stars...it doesnt even deserve 1 star! There's nothing insightful about it and even an idiot doesn't need to be told 'the four agreements' to know them. A 3 yr old could have written a better book on the subject. Pls dont waste your money in buying this book...anyone want my copy?

Wow! I'd like to say unbelieveable, except I do believe! These cards are so fabulous and absolutely accurate. What a bonus that they are beautiful and a pleasure to own and use. I would highly recommend buing these especially if you are just starting out with help from the angels, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this after my therapist looked up teeth due to some continuous problems I was having, I totally related to what Louise said was causing this. It has just about every illness or ailment known to us. It was suggested that I mark each ailment I had suffered from and see if there was an obvious link - it wasnt just obvious, it shouted at me!. If you keep suffering from an ailment just look it up, it will have a much deeper meaning which could be something that you need to address to move on ( a meditation is then given to help you do this). It works on an emotional and physical level. A must have book for every one interested in self healing and helping others.
