This is a brilliant boxed set, i managed to get this for under £45 which is incredible given the books individually are priced at £13 each !! The attention to detail in these books are second to none - buy it now before the price goes back up !!

This is an essential guide for visiting the Peak District. Well priced and "handy" for the pocket. Well impressed.

This is just the book to have if you are into hillwalking in the UK hills. The good old Langmuir book was just a little too long winded and complex and never managed to get anything out of. However the Mountain Leader book or the green book has been my bible when preparing for my Mountain Leader. Whenever I forgot something from my training I just pulled this book out from my shelf and looked it up. I advise anyone interested in hillwalking to consider buying the Mountain Leader Handbook.

This is an essential map for anyone who wants to walk the wall. The 1:25000 is vital to give you the necessary degree of detail in this often barren landscape. Any larger will be no use whatsoever in this kind of terrain. Do not be without this on your trip.

This map is a 1:25,000 scale - perfect for walking, hiking and short cycling trips. The Landranger maps may look better, but are 1:50,000. 1:50,000 is pathetic for hikers unless very experienced in their use - imagine ur road atlas being half the size and trying to read the road names. This is the map to go for. Being OS, it's fantastic, and even has the ski centre and all its ski lifts marked out!

We took this book for a spin last weekend and ended up having the time of our lives. I took our camping stove and a lemon (would you ever think of taking this on a walk?) and made nettle tea. Yes! It turned from green to pink, the kids loved it and my 10-year old actually drank it. Oh, and my husband now thinks he is Ray Mears and has gone all survivalist. Plus, I've been inspired to start reading some classic children's literature to my kids which makes welcome change to Jaqueline Wilson. Thank you.

This is a good, useful map. Two sided, each 55cm x 65cm, scale 1:40,000, 2.5cm =1km, which is about 1.5inches = 1 mile. Not quite as good as a British Ordnance Survey map, but better and cheaper (from Amazon) than any maps I saw in Madeira. All the main roads, tourist info, contours, (with good background colouring to indicate height,essential in such a mountainous region), footpath details, with references to walk numbers in guide-books, levadas, a place-name index... There is also a small street-map of the centre of Funchal, but it's really too small to be of use. Collect a free advertising tourist map from your hotel for the centre of Funchal. David Brawn's Madeira Bus & Touring map is also useful if you plan on using local buses.

If you are sailing on the Norfolk Broads, this is the only map you need. Excellent quality and excellent value. Covers both North and South Broads and shows all moorings, pubs etc.

This is an indispensable companion if walking the Thames Path, and if you are taking only one book along with you, it should be this one. Others, such as Turner's one on pubs, the National Trail Companion, and the Imray map, are helpful, but you can get along without them if you have this. Detailed OS maps are included for every step of the way, with the relevant text on the same page. The text itself gives very clear directions, fills you in on local history and landmarks, and points out pubs and other places of refreshment. The balance is just right. Once the Path reaches London it follows both banks of the river. Here the text usefully splits into colour-coded north and south sections, which run in parallel to each other. ... Read More:

This is the 5th book of a series of 7 which were written between 1956 and 1965. The series covers the entire Lake District. This book covers the area north of Keswick and includes Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Caldbeck Fells. My reasons for recommending the book are as follows: 1. The author is an expert. He has covered the ground, and the information in the book is a small selection of his total knowledge. 2. The guide is accurate. Minor changes have of course happened in the 40 plus years since publication, such as the disappearance of the railway. But the fells are the same. If Wainwright shows a safe route it can be relied on. 3. The author loves the area. He wrote the books initially for himself as a tribute to the hills. ... Read More:
