This book is just lovely! It contains lots of trivia about the history of drinking tea and the rituals that go with it, as well as countless recipes for all the traditional foods served with tea in the UK. Very nice!

What a lovely little book, the perfect accompaniment to a nice cup of tea! Find out what your work cup says about you; whether Wagon Wheels are smaller than they used to be; why fig rolls have a 'sense of mystery' and why shortbread is a biscuit with delusions of grandeur!

I particularly enjoyed Nicey's thought about the pink wafer and fully concur that it is the biscuit equivalent of 'The Singing Detective'. The only glaring omission, for me, was the toasted teacake.

A great 'gift book' that you can dip in and out of. Funny and engaging.

It's actually quite difficult to place this text. Is it a religious text? A novel? An extended poem? A diatribe? An instruction manual on 'cha no yuu'? Ironically (given the title) it is more of the former and less of the later.

Those seeking a book to 'explain' cha no yuu may well be disappointed, then again they may not. One truth about this book is this, that every person who has an in interest in Japan, Japanese culture and of course cha no yuu should adopt this book. Read it carefully and slowly (no more than a few pages a day). Highlight the important points and keep it as your constant companion.

I also recommend every Japanese national buy a copy to, find out where you started on the path, where you left off ... Read More:

Like most caffiene addicts I routinely start my day with a cup of coffee. And since the coffee I made at home was never as good as the coffee I could purchase just about anywhere else I would force myself to drive to a nearby coffee shop no matter how inconvenient or expensive this might be.Since I was devoting a great deal of time and money to this quest I decided to purchase Korby Cummer's The Joy of Coffee thinking that the investment would eventually result in a better home brew. Happily, the plan worked.

"Joy" is an incredibly detailed, thorough book which begins with the author traveling to Costa Rica to pick beans and includes descriptions of the various means of roasting, grinding, and and brewing. There is a chapter ... Read More:

I have read quite a few books about coffee and most have been very disappointing; nice pictures and a few recipes but nothing too enlightening. This book is different (and much better in my view)- practically no pictures and no recipes but a very succint and helpful guide to coffee; from its history, cultivation, processing and blending, to detailed advice on how to brew a good cup. Coffee producing areas are covered in detail, both the different climates and methods of production, and more importantly the variations in taste. It has a definite USA bias and tone but that can be forgiven; the author has greatly enhanced my understanding of coffee and added to my enjoyment of my favourite drink. It isn't full of glossy pictures but as a source of useful ... Read More:
