after surfing for many years i have a fair knowledge of weather and how waves are created but this book really helped me take a step up in my understanding. Easy to understand and a must buy for anyone interested in wave creation.

I've been waiting for a book like this to come along for years and I'm not disappointed by this one. On the contrary, it's got all the best surf spots throughout Europe and Morocco and would be a valuable companion on any trip. It also includes listings for where to stay and eat and even what to do when there's no surf. Highly recommended.

I chose this book because I had already read Touching Cloudbase (A book on paraglding by the same author) and found it excellent. I was not disapointed, this is very comprehensive and answered all the questions i had, not only about improving my sailing but about buying stuff, setting up your gear etc which is well worth the cover price alone. Great Pictures and illustrations too. Written in a very easy untechnical style, and well suited to the beginner and to someone like me trying to improve. Not much good to experienced windsurfers or competitors though. Recommended

This is a superb book for armchair surfers, "groms", "kooks", and anyone else who likes the idea of surfing; it's not really a practical guide or a book intended for grizzled old sea dogs who've been surfing for 20 years. Slightly smaller than a magazine, it's getting on for 300 pages long, packed with colour photos on virtually every page (it claims to have "over 300 images, including many by the world's leading surf photographers"), with loads of illustrations and lots of cool graphic design. It has a magaziney feel rather than a book feel and, though you could read it cover to cover, it's presumably meant to dip in and out of. This book by Simon Bornhoft has helped me overcome some areas of windsurfing that I just could seem to get my head around. I have found it so useful, I decided to book up on one of Simon's coaching courses!!! A fantastic guide by someone who really makes a difference to your windsurfing!

I've owned both the surfing guides to Europe (Stormrider and footprint guide) as well as the Stormrider World guides....The new Stormrider Guide Europe the continent raises the bar again - Stormrider is always the best looking of the surf guides with the most detailed info. The new European guide has new and proper usable maps and great info in a format that is much easier to use than the footprint guides. There's great chapters on the Med coasts, Germany, Denmark, Holland and Belgium which are not covered in my footprint guide. A must buy for anyone taking a surf trip in Europe. If you're heading outside Europe check out their World guides vol 1 and 2.

I roped my wife into windsurfing a couple of years ago. She bought this book to take with us to Venezuela, Isla de Margarita. I had a quick flick through on the beach for about 20 mins, before I knew it I was body draging, finishing off my 360s and finally a few spocks too. Above all this book is great for your confidence. I highly recommend it to all windsurfers new and old.
