If you buy just one book for your Baltic trip, this is the one. It is well-written, chock full of practical information and historic background to make the most of your travels. There's no worry if you don't know the language or how to catch the bus in Tallinn; it helps you do it yourself.

The one minor irritation is that there was no reference to TrekBaltics, an Estonian adventure travel company that we found on our own. That was a great find.

All in all -- a terrific book, and the most updated one available today.

VERY light on detailed information. The maps are very basic, not listing all street names and no street index. The self guideing walking tour highlights the main sights in the Old Town, but better tours can be found in other guide books. On the up side the cafe/restaurant section do`s note which places serve veggie meals.
I would reconmend the inyourpocket guide to Tallinn, which can be often obtained for free, this has far more information and is usually updated every 3 months.

The best guild book for the Baltics States there is. Very up to date and full of excellent tips. Had a very nice time in Tallinn using the guild. Also a good reference book for business travellers who are going to the Baltics for the first time.

8.Estonia (The Bradt Travel Guide) by: Neil Taylor

Books : Estonia (The Bradt Travel Guide)
It is surely never easy to satisfy within just a couple of hundred pages all the potential users of a guidebook. But Neil Taylor, in his Bradt Guide to Estonia, definitely comes close. Whether it be in Tallinn's turreted old town or in the delicate beauty of rural Estonia, I really found Neil Taylor's insights and writing to be something quite special.

One has a sense of being with the man, with his wry and witty comments on all things Estonian. 'Pleasantly opinionated' is how one of the book cover comments describes the book, and that really hits the mark. It is precisely because Taylor gives opinions that the book is such a good read, and gets beyond the usual bland guidebook routine.

This is a country with a fabulously ... Read More:
