My son aged 10 is heavily into Dr Who and was dying to get this annual. He was impressed by this new one and found it both interesting and entertaining. Although a cheap gift he rated it above some of the PS2 games he was given!!! Would recommend this annual for any Dr Who fan.

As the cliche goes: I sooo wish I'd had this book as a kid. Nearly everything inside could be found with 5 minutes determined google searching, but it is the lucidity and compiling that makes this book so compelling. Somehow it makes you feel invigourated reading it - you feel that it is entirely possible to do all the things listed and be a swiss army man or stg. The one weakness (if it has a weakness) that this book has is that it does have an ever so slightly condescending tone. However, given the tone of the many inferior versions (eg the 'How to be best at everything...' series - as if they are), this book is remarkably down to earth. So, what are you waiting for? Unfortunately Plop had a problem... he was afraid of the dark. Plop's mother saw a little boy and told Plop to fly down to ask him about the dark. Find out what Plop discovered about the dark, and follow his amazing adventure, in 'the Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark'. Pine class really enjoyed reading about Plop's progress in this story and gave it 5 stars.

I'm a big fan of Sally Featherstone and this is one of the best in the series. Very clear, precise, easy to read and not at all patronising. I like this a lot.

This revision guide summarises clearly and concisely all the science you need up to and including Year 9, with sections on Life Processes, Materials and Physical Processes. And it's great for learning because it explains everything in an entertaining and accessible format (check out the cold polar bear and the elephant in stilettos!). Our children have worked steadily through it preparing for exams, and the pages are getting dog-eared. Conclusion: a comprehensive and well-written guide to KS3 Science. Wish we'd had books like this when I was at school.

A great book for fun activities all year round. As soon as i saw it in the bookshop i loved it, and still do to this day, love it, love it, love it!If you like this but want something even better, try the great big glorius book for girls. By the way, i LOVE the illustrations!

To be honest, I disagree this book is better than the text book published by Cambridge. Although this book does have nice diagrams and all, it overlooks some information on the organic section, i.e. it does not mention the catalyst required for the nitration of nitrobenzene (H2SO4). I did not like the entire section on unifying cocepts at all because I found it very confusing, the book gave lots of equations on calculations, but did not make clear what they were. The book is ok on trends and patterns, nothing bad, nothing special. But it does a brillant job on explaining lattice enthalpy.
