My 7 year old son loves audio books and we have lots! He likes King Arthur tales but they can often be quite difficult to read and understand. However this is read brilliantly and we have both been gripped. Admittedly I have quite often had to pause it and explain parts but it is read in chapters which gives you convenient places to recap. We have listened travelling to and from school and for 3 nights we sat in the car on the drive listening to see what happens. This is a great next step if they are getting a little to old for 'Stories for 5/6/7 year olds" audio books. It really is great. Buy it!

See what happens when three children, Jo, and his two sisters, Bessie and Fannie, discover their very own Enchanted Wood, and meet new friends Silky the Fairy, Moon-Face and the Saucepan Man who all live in the magical Faraway Tree. Their real adventures begin when they all climb up and discover the most thrilling and peculiar! Lands that exist beyond the clouds at the top of the tree which some are good and some rather confusing and some plain dreadful. I like most of the Lands and characters like the angry pixie, Mr Watizname and Dame Washalot.
The characters are funny and some of the lands are very exciting like the land of snow and ice where there are evil snowman and even Santa Claus.

The pictures in this book are designed to encourage children to talk about the book and predict what might happen next. The opening page shows a detailed scene, which introduces the main characters and vocabulary that appear in throughout the book. The book has essential style for early readers, simple straight forward sentences, large clear type, an easy to read font, repeated phases, lively humorous illustrations and a close match between pictures and words. It is part of a series of popular, traditional tales written in a simple way that young children can understand and read. `Goldilocks and the Three Bears' is a Read It Yourself Book; it is especially considered for children who are ready to take their first steps in reading.

This book is good although one of the touch bits is sandpaper which I personally dont think is right for a baby book. I personally prefer the goldilocks one in the series which is why I bought this one.

From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in some of the later episodes. Whoever is in charge you can absolutely guarantee a frightening ride through another world, which Shan depicts so very well. As far as teenage horror goes this is about as entertaining as it gets. You cannot compare it to the real horror masters, such as James Herbert, Shaun Hutson, Brian Keene or Conrad Jones, but they are truly entertaining, ... Read More:

I recently bought this book to add to my classroom library with a view to looking at the effects of the Second World War on children. Although year 6 children usually consider themselves 'above' picture books; this (along with the equally beautiful Rose Blanche) has to be an exception. this is not a picture book for young children - it is that rare thing; a picture book aimed at 9 year olds and above. (Children younger than that would find the content disturbing and hard to understand.)

The illustrations, typical of Shirley Hughes, are wonderful; and the story line is great, helping to clarify the children's insight into life during the Second World War. The child's emotions are captured well, and the story is very well written. I shall be using it to begin our mini ... Read More:
