I think the German translation is very good. Of course the original English book is better, but it would not be normal if the tranlated version is better. I have read the books in both languages, and in Enlish it is obviously fitting better to the plot (school system,...) So I keep my fingers crossed that the 6th book is going to be as good as the others!

I enjoyed this book, and it gave a new slant on the film. Mostly I enjoyed the style of writing, as a rather informal but objective report. It could be engaging and personal without focussing too much on the love-story aspect of the book. The main downside though, is the occasional tendency to be a little disorganised in story progression. Having both seen the film and read the book, I would recommend both to others as each plays to the advantages of its medium. The more important messages of the book (How violence develops, and the dangers of the tabloid press) have not, in my opinion, become irrelevant with age. Meiner Meinung nach ist Goethes Roman "Die leiden des jungen Werther" ein sehr romantisches und dramatisches Buch. Da das Buch 1774 geschrieben wurde, war es nicht immer leicht zu verstehen. Die Natur und die Liebe spielen in den Briefroman eine sehr große Rolle. Dies wird zum Beispiel am Anfang des Buches erkennbar, da Goehte die Natur als gute und schöne Welt darstellt. Die Natur stellt den positiven Gegensatz zum Stadtleben da. Als Werther zum Maienkäfer werden möchte, möchte er eins mit der Natur werden. Das tragische Ende von Werther kann man auch in die Romantik einordnen. Die Liebe eines Menschen wurde nicht erhört, Werther leidet daraufhin an Liebeskummer und sieht keinen anderen Ausweg als sich das Leben zu nehmen. Dramatisch ... Read More:
