The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a great little book. It keeps my daughter occupied for hours on end. Just a quick flick through it is enough to convince any adult that a small child will like it. Simplistic, enjoyable and charming. And actually quite funny. Well recommended for very small kids.

I bought this book on the strength of the great reviews it has had but it is terrible. It only has three pages with the pictures of mum, dad and baby that you see on the front cover. That is it! The pictures have black/white/yellow decorations around them that my daughter looked at briefly but an absolute waste of money!

My 15 month old boy loves this book mainly because he loves opening flaps! We vary between this and the 'Where's Spot' book (where the flaps are easier to spot). He never seems to tire of them!

Such a lovely board book and in my opinion it's perfect for babies and toddlers of any age really. It's especially good for reading before a daytime nap (or any winding down time) as the beautiful rhymes and gentle illustrations can be quite soothing. My 2 year old daughter loves it and I highly recommend it. Buy it and you'll soon see...it will come out from the bookshelf time and time again.

With beautiful pictures and lyrical text this is a book you can start reading to your little one from a very early age. Even though my little boy doesn't understand he loves the pictures of big and little nutbrown hare and he knows its about love because of the tone in my voice and the big hugs! Also it's great for dads: normally depictions of love in children's books seem to be a Mum and a baby; Big Nutbrown Hare is the father! Because it's a bit more "wordy" than most baby books I think it's good for youngsters to learn that the weird squiggly black things (letters!) have something to do with the story too.

I remember reading Janet and Allan Ahlberg books when I was a child and can still recite sections from memory so was really looking forward to introduing my own children to their books. I have 20 month old twins and it was a real joy to find that they were just as entranced with this tale as I was. Given small children's love of repition it is a delight to find a book which they love and which is actually a joy rather than a chore to reread to them time and time again. The text is lovely and the level of detail in the pictures allows all three of us to find new things to spot each time we look at it. All in all a delightful book which I could not recommend highly enough for any parents of babies or small children.

Tabitha Rose is two years and nine months. She loves a story at bedtime with her trusted teddy Charly. I bought this book to take on holiday to help her to settle and wind down after a busy day. We have enjoyed it together every night since we have returned. Tabitha is my Grandaughter and she spends every Monday and Tuesday with us. Goodnight Moon is our final story at night.We enjoy looking at the illustrations and find that the changed from dusk, when the story begins, to the brightness of the moon and stars at the end sets the scene and mood for the end of the day. I like the Hungry Caterpiller but this is even better. I've read it to my 6 month yr old daughter, mainly due to the variety of animal characters. Def one to buy!

I read this book for two children I was babysitting on Saturday night. I think I enjoyed it more than them! What a fab idea, perfectly written and illustrated. I'm going to be buying this for all the children I know this Christmas.
