Someone brought it to my attention that a few people here mentioned my book Dance with Life as helpful to working with The Secret. Thank you whoever you are for associating me with such a great book!

In my opinion the secret of The Secret is that you really need to be in the right place to get where it's coming from. My recommendation is before applying what is in The Secret you first need to read Jill Bolte Taylor's "My Stroke of Insight" to understand how the mind works. Bolte Taylor's book explains the difference between right brain and left brain function and the beauty of it is that it speaks directly to the left brain to get us to a point where we can understand the universal consciousness that is the right brain. I found Eckhart Tolle's newest book "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose" an enlightening read. I really liked chapter 5 "The Pain Body" It had never occurred to me that thinking is involuntary, that it is no different then other bodily functions such as circulation or digestion. How true it is that many people are totally lost in their thoughts never present or listening to a word anyone says. In chapter 6 "Breaking Free" Eckhart Tolle tells us how to break free. I kept thinking to myself (what I have thought so many times before) the only thing that gets in my way is me!

Another book I really enjoyed reading is "Being Here Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment" by Ariel & Shya Kane. It is a light and delightful book of short stories ... Read More:

.. but unlikely to convince many theists because, frankly, what will? May push some nontheistic Christians over the edge, however. Ulike Sam Harris

God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything
Dawkins is at least respectful even if he strongly disagrees with theists. He does seem to be making a sincere effort addressed to them and not at them (as Harris and Hitchens seem to have done). I was surprised just how respectful Dawkins is, not of the religions but of the theists he addresses. And given his world-class understanding of evolutionary biology and clear presentation, those less die-hard in their theism or still hanging on to their religious upbringing ... Read More:

This is an amazing book. It shows you in an unpatronising way without being simplistic about out personal power and how we are holding ourselves back with fears and feelings that are preventing us from living in the moment and enjoying life.
I've read a lot of books about this kind of thing... and this is one of the best... this is a great book especially after you've got the basic... but I bet it works in and of itself as an eye opener to the reality that we are the creators of our own reality.
Thoughts create reality!

adding guilt to the burden of an ill persons distress with poisonous glib positive thinking, essentially blaming a person for their illness - before they lose their fight with cancer because they just were not thinking positively enough - why not try crystal therapy while your at it

I agree wholeheartedly with the rave reviews others have given this book/CD, and I second the notion that the "7 Days" part of the title is quite ambitious. But no one can predict how much reprogramming their own mind will need until the work gets under way. In my first few days of listening and reading, before I noticed any real changes in my outlook or my behaviour, I found myself looking forward to the time I would spend on this. So maybe there were changes already happening that were a bit too subtle for me to recognise them. Within about 3 weeks' time, there was no mistaking that my thought patterns were becoming more positive and now (about 3 months since I first bought the book/CD), it's clear that much of the content has stuck with me and plays itself in my head automatically.
The big message is that you ... Read More:

I cannot yet see the way that all the content this book offers about the principles of Sun Tzu can be applied to life on a whole.
This book is incredibily concise and seems to only demonstate practical instructions. I'm left using own imagination to discover what they could truely mean and offer to me in my own circumstances seen as I am not really in a battle field with two opposing forces.
By using this idea however as an absolute representation of lifes struggles the book can be great but in this edition, a lot of the writings are simply too practical, saying about camping and assuring you are away from rivers, for that to appear to be the case. Certainly some of these pointers can have spiritual value and ideas of balance between armies actions and how they forecast victory or defeat are apparent.
