I enjoyed this book when I read it and have given copies to friends and family to read. Take out the nonsense areas like its all your fault when something major goes wrong .... scary statement indeed, and some of it makes sense. You can have so much more in life and all it takes is focus and belief ... if you can truly beleive it, you can acheive it. So much of this is taken out of context and without the incredible power that comes from the great master himself Napoleon Hill. I would urge you to read or listen to the 6 set cd series by napeleon hill ... Tony Robins and so many others have learnt and preach his teachings from almost 100 years ago ... it is the real thing !! The Science of Personal Acheivement. Its called. Its the real ... Read More:

This is a book that everybody should read. Dawkins takes religion apart with methodical scientific knowledge, common sense and humour. He also persuades us that our world would be much better of without religion and that it is our responsibility to challenge its superstitions wherever we find them.

Dawkins has been accused of being to hard on religion and especially of using language that is rather strong to get his points over. I cannot disagree with this more. If you have ever seen one of his documentaries (and if you haven't you should) you will surely agree that the language in the book here reflects a polite, well mannered, logical and determined man. When Dawkins's language rarely veers from the emotionally detached it is only at points ... Read More:

The current state of humanity is an outward reflection of the dysfunction that exists within the human mind, The EGO, the fictitious sense of self, the apparent duality, the delusion!

A New Earth will teach you about the mechanics and the structure of the ego in others and how to dissolve your own ego by present moment awareness. Once you have gone beyond your fictitious identity you no longer pollute your body with negative emotion, no longer contaminate those around you with negative energy and go beyond the main characteristics of the ego - fear and want.

You then participate in the unfolding of The New Earth. Essential reading for everyone, your transformation awaits!

Hi
I suffered immeasurable depression following my Mum's death 1 month ago. She suffered from Leukaemia and one of the most important aids to her coping with this was Eckart Tolle's The Power of Now - the whole book and the exercises additional book. She kept her brave and honest spirit alive through his words and didnt fear death, she was ready I guess.

I have been trying to get out of my misery - I miss her so much it feels like my heart has been cut out. I have started reading her well-read Eckhart books - as a means to helping myself to simply exist.

I find the practice of 'now' very hard to do, but I am reading and reading it, listening to it on tape and trying hard. Sometimes it works - my own awareness of how I am feeling and just that ... Read More:

I was expecting a huge tome full of Confuscian statements which are allegorical to warfare. What I received was a 69-page book of short instructions which are dirrectly about warfare, but in many cases allegorical to life.

Possibly they're all in some way applicable to the day-to-day, the fighting with fire section does seem a bit specialised, but doubtless the scales will fall from my eyes at some stage and I will be able to use its teachings in buying tangerines from waitrose.

The best thing about the book is the ability to spice up conversation. Never again will I use a hackneyed marketing phrase where something from Sun Tzu will work. Brilliant.

I find this a handy reference when trying to get to grips with tricky conditions that are stubborn to overcome without aggressive drug intervention. Delving into the subconscious is a skill and not always straighforward, and the suggested thought patterns are definitely worth consideration. The statements may not totally line up for everyone with the same condition, so adjusting the phrasing may be necessary until it rings absolutely true. I see this work more from the viewpoint that more kindness and tenderness is needed in a world that is steeped in conflict and aggression, and where better then to start by being kind and tender to ourselves. I don't for a second think this book is intended to create guilt or blame for developing a serious illness, or replace other medical intervention, ... Read More:

I'll start by saying, I have all Paul's books, and I'm a massive admirer of his work and ethos.

There's one massive flaw with this book though. Reading the synopsis, the reviews and even the introductory chapter, you get the impression reading the book will change your life in seven days. If you just read it, you won't. I do feel if I was to knock one mark out of one hundred for this book, it would be that Paul doesn't make it clear enough, you can't just read the book. It's a manual you have to learn from and apply to your life.

Practise, and execution is the key. Paul will show you how to do it, but really you have to do it. I would consider needing 15 mins a day (best in the morning) to go through the exercises.

And when the going gets tough, don't give up. ... Read More:

I've read the "Sinful Sex", the first book Dr. Pam had and was really, really into it. This followup is all about sex, through and has lots of new materail. She also goes into some detail about "problems" and how to overcome them. A great read for anyone interested in improving their sex life. I also liked "Sex Machine"--Kane and would recommend it along with this one.

Unlike the Bible, the Koran, the Mahabharata and other religious texts, this book is based on history, archaeological findings and textual analysis. It also requires the reader to employ common sense and logic. I felt wonderfully uplifted after having read this work and I will recommend it to anyone who would be interested in rational reading.

Yep, 'hated'. It's a very strong word and I being the pale-faced egalitarian liberal that I am, is one I rarely use.

At best it's self-help drivel that will make those with low self-esteem feel (briefly) better about themselves. At worst, it's dangerous right-wing elitist fiction masquerading as a children's allegory.

I have no problem with self-help drivel - I choose not to read it. I do have problems with books that try and pretend to be something else.

A friend sent me a copy of this book a few years ago, which I read in a few minutes and it left me literally shaking with anger. The memory of this book is still etched in my mind..

Burn every copy you find. ;-)
