... my own, personal experience of The Secret? Successful, verging on miraculous! My husband bought me the "talking-book" version for Christmas. Although we were generally happy with our lives, there were some things that hadn't worked out the way we'd hoped. The biggest of these, our apparent inability - after 8 years of trying - to have a family together. I even wrote a book - Pink for a Girl - about our experience of unexplained infertility. After listening to "The Secret" several times, I decided to give it a go. In the back of my journal, I wrote down a number of things that I wanted in 2008. This book really does work. I've read some of the negative words and all I can say is reading the book alone will not make you confident. Using the techniques and the CD provided with the book makes you confident. The second half of the book is a motivational section which really makes you want to go out and sort out your life, in every area. Buy this book.

I love this book. Tolle describes ancient truths and applies them to life in the 21st century in a way that is inspiring and comforting. I took away from this book three simple, yet profound ideas. First and foremost, Tolle believes that we are all connected to each other and that everything we do matters and has an impact on our world. His second idea lies in the power of listening: he suggests that if we can quiet our egos long enough to truly listen, it is possible to feel a sacredness and inner harmony where everything has its perfect place. This book is brilliant. It has sent me on a course I am glad to be on. I can see the truth in all of it, and Know it for my self. For all those who are dubious about this, or think it's rubbish, I can sense/see the spirit force in nature, it's very hard to put into words, but I wouldn't replace that for a million quid, I find my self more interested in the nature outside the window than the tv I am watching. Really don't like TV at all now and used to lean on it like most. I sometimes ask whether it's delusional, but know it is not, you just have to experience it for yourself like so many others are. One of the best if not the most important reads of my life. Hope you can see for youself

This book is excellent. Parents, who want lasting discipline, in the true sense of the word [teaching], look no further. As other reviewers have said, there is no quick fix. If that's what you are after, God help your kids! As an author, I also found the techniques and suggestions easy to pick up and assimilate. It is relevant for school, home and life in general. We can't get enough of this kind of material.

Most of the book is really common sense NLP and other cognitive techniques. The best thing about it is, that it is really simple and truly liberating if you often find yourself exasperated with all the advice thrown at you from all corners. And have a bad memory. The first rule of four is to eat Everything you like, at all times, anywhere IF YOU ARE HUNGRY. And only if.And ENJOY EVERY BITE. So the real focus is learning to sense your inner signals. Learning to slow down, and really taste. Do you just want to change your mood? Then don't eat. Do something else..And adress your underlying motivations. This is not a bad book. Actually, I'm ok with having bought it here at Amazon. However, that was not my impression when I started in the first chapter; I thought "oh no, not again, another book of a wannabe self-proclaimed "guru"". From chapter 3 onwards it became better, but I have one serious problem with this book: I do understand Cialdini is an academic, but I really wish he would stop cluttering up the text with all these side steps to academic research; it's annoying. Just pose your statements, explain them short and clear, and put all your detailed explanations of academic research that supports your statements in the footnotes. This is your typical book where you have to turn back two pages constantly to see "what was his main argument?". This book could be considerably ... Read More:

This is the one book I unfailingly recommend to others who want to be more successful in work or life in general. I've read it several times and still find its ideas central to how I go about things in life. Hence buying it for a friend just now! Covey makes a compelling (and welcome) case for the substance of real character over the cult of projected and perceived personality as the 'secret' to sustainable success in life.

I loved this book...simple as that. I finished it only yesterday and I already want to read it again. I just picked it off the bookshelf after reading Sara Book 2 by Abraham Hicks (its a children's book but adults benefit more than children from the read) without realising that the books are somewhat connected. The Alchemist approaches the Law of Attraction and finding your path in a different way. I find that some spiritual books are difficult reads as they are riddled in heavy duty terminology. This book is straight forward and gets to the point. I think by being so clear the lesson is easier learnt. I would whole-heartedly recommend this book.
