Discovered this by accident in a old fashioned book store and love it. OK so the humour is a bit naff but this guy seriously knows what he is talking about and how to put it on paper so that the only thing on your mind after reading a chapter is reaching for the camera to put it into practice. Quick tips that can really help improve the pictures that you take with whatever equipment you have to hand without blinding you with science.

Please, don't take any notice of the tripe you will read in these reviews about stupid humour. It is only in a half dozen intro pages and even then, it's not enough to worry about and stop you learning from these wonderful books. Buy this book, buy volume one too and a good highlighter pen, because you will learn an awful lot (unless you are a seasoned pro). The tips are quick, precise and have made my photography much better in the week it has taken me to read (and cover in highlighter!) both volumes. Volume two has a great section on studio work with simple and inexpensive equipment that is worth the cover price alone. Don't listen to the silly moans about his sense of humour, buy these and learn lots!

This book tell you all you need to know when starting out with the Nikon D40 in an easy and comprehensive way unlike the original confusingly laid out manual. Additionally this book give good photo taking techniques in a variety of situations. Nice!

I have always been skeptical about buying books that deal with photography either because there exist too many online tutorials which cover many aspects in detail or simply because the techniques each book covers are more or less the same rewritten in a different format. This book by Michael Freeman though is trully a gem and a "must-have" in the library of every photographer. It covers most photographic composition aspects in a great detail with perhaps images of excellence regarding composition, including schematic figures outlining and justifying the choice of the composition which exactly hit the point the writer is trying to make. The art inside this official book is like any other MGS form of art, which is stunning. If you have not had the chance to play all of the MGS games. Then this book has a handy selection of pages talking about the most imporant people in the MGS world. Best to play the game without using the book to start with, then use it once you hvae had your first play-though. As its the type of game you can play and play. All in all, its backed full of usful information, and detialed full colour maps to help you out. 5 out of 5.

This small book is broken down into 52 sections. I'm writing this review after section 6 (I got the book 2 days ago). I know SEO is moving fast, and that book publishing has a lead-time, but given that this book was only published 5 months ago, in Jan 2008, a lot of the information is already looking dated. Section 1 illustrates the popularity of Google by quoting Hitwise Search Results figures from December 2005. On their website the current research date is May 2008 - it appears to be updated monthly, so surely they could have included a figure that is a little more current? Section 5 advises readers to go to a link for the Overture Keyword Assistant. Instead you get Yahoo's welcome page for their sponsored listings. Read More:

Having recently taken the plunge to buy my first Mac computer, although the operating system (Leopard) is easy to use, the way of doing things is slightly different. To help me fully migrate, I purchased this book. This book is a mine of information covering all aspects of the Mac OS, from the very little things like minimising windows to the more complex things like Automation etc. It explains everything in great detail and has lots of screen grabs and illustrations to help. I wish I bought it a year ago when I started trading... If I read this earlier, I could have avoided mistakes I made NT pointed out in the book. The author's writing style is light and friendly so it's not a boring book to read. Clearly pointed out mistakes all newbie investors would make along with good habit of trading. It's not the investing bible nor get rich quick book but it definitely is investing 101 for newbies and intermediate investors.

A wonderful little book that really opens your eyes to usability issues that are so obvious but are still overlooked.
