Great revision of this essential camping guide. Now it features more campsites across England (70 rather than the original 40), and some of the originals have been substituted, not sure why? The photos are still first class and the expanded 'handy information' gives a neat little overview of what to do and where to eat & drink we loved a secret little locals pub right on the beach in Dorset, recommended in the guide. The write-up and information for the campsites are accurate, and the authors seem to favour the kind of campsites I prefer - small ones with personality, rather than the large, static caravan type. All in all another great guide from the dependable Cool Camping dudes.

When my book came through the post and flicked through the pages, I actually started juming about and screaming!!! The pictures are so amazing. I was in so much excitement about the holiday I am going on this summer. I am going cycle touring in France, and this book is going to become my bible. Infact I was so impressed by it, I planned my whole route so that I could pick up as many campsites as possible. Trust me, the campsites are totally stunning, well thats if you think stunning is beautiful, rural, and peaceful campsites with breath taking views!

Around three years ago my partner and I decided to go camping in Wales, revisiting a site he had stayed at many years ago. It turns out that we were cool even then, but didn't know it. I have been waiting all my life for a campsite book like this, not only is it aimed a people with tents it has the most beautiful pictures as well as useful information like nearest pub and whether or not we can have a campfire. Off to Red Squirrel next weekend, thank you Cool Camping!

Camping is a somewhat re-visited activity and, over the years, I'm used to 'AA' books, which are, generally, reliable and offer a list of places to troll through, so I grabbed the book off the shelf without really looking at it! Fool that I am. Now, this is a book, right?... and you are meant to be able to read it easily, right?... OK, yes I wear 'readers' but the print is still somewhat small and the font could have been better, but my gripe is with the symbols for what each site offers...they are truly small and difficult to distinguish, especially in low light. The symbols are the key and worth a thousand words, so should be crystal! AND...what about dogs?...OK it has a symbol for 'dog exercise area', so one assumes dogs are welcome ... Read More:

This is such a cute little book! the recipes aren't really hi-tec or anything but it tells you how to build a fire and gives you checklists for equipment and stuff, which is good if you've never been camping before. and it's got lots of yum stuff i never would have thought of, like cooking roast chicken or this omlette with strawberries in. Theer are other harder recipes, but I preferd the easy, messy stuff which involves stuffing things on sticks! And barbecue stuff is well-covered too. The pictures look good but not fake, and the words are quite quirky and funny, made me laugh anyway, which i wasn't expecting. glad i bought it... might spur me on to cook a bit more outdoors instead of heading to the pub...

I have just returned from touring France with my husband, daughter and her friend. We used Alan Rogers Guide to find suitable campsites. Each site was well described with facilities listed clearly and accurately. I would highly recommend this book.

I have to disagree with the reviews given to this guide. It is extremely useful as a back-up in conjunction with the Michelin road atlas when touring. O.k. the sites listed aren't always the type of site you would necessarily spend more than a night or two on, ( although many are ), but it does vet. the sites and gives them a rating as a guide to general standard, and packs plenty of other info. into a small space.It also lists a hell of a lot of sites, so if you are touring using the Michelin road atlas and you need to stop for the night, the atlas indicates, with a symbol, which towns or villages have one or more campsites listed in the camping guide.Find the nearest one on the map, look it up in the guide, and Bob's your proverbial.
