Camping is a somewhat re-visited activity and, over the years, I'm used to 'AA' books, which are, generally, reliable and offer a list of places to troll through, so I grabbed the book off the shelf without really looking at it! Fool that I am.

Now, this is a book, right?... and you are meant to be able to read it easily, right?... OK, yes I wear 'readers' but the print is still somewhat small and the font could have been better, but my gripe is with the symbols for what each site offers...they are truly small and difficult to distinguish, especially in low light. The symbols are the key and worth a thousand words, so should be crystal! AND...what about dogs?...OK it has a symbol for 'dog exercise area', so one assumes dogs ... Read More:

Books : Cool Camping England (Glove-box edition): A Hand Picked Selection of Exceptional Campsites and Camping Experiences
After many years of Eurocamp holidays in France when our children were younger, we started to think about getting our own tent and heading off to more interesting places here in the UK as well as abroad. We have definitely had our fill of 'holiday camp' sites in France.

I would have to say that the Cool Camping books were what finally tipped us over the edge into getting fully equipped and heading off into the wilds. Talk about inspiration! These books are fantastic (we have the Wales and England books - both of which are great). We selected a great site on Pembrokeshire coast on the basis of Cool Camping's recommendation, and had a wonderful short break at the end of the school holidays.

What we love most about the books ... Read More:

Books : Alan Rogers Britain and Ireland: Quality Camping and Caravanning Parks (Alan Rogers Guides)
The Guide gives enough information, however, it is in a very cumbersome way. Instead of listing the features like dogs allowed, fishing etc. with the listing (icons would do), the guide has a section in the back where it lists the campsites by name and country. This is very annoying as the name doesn't mean anything and one only knows if it is in the area where one wants to go by finding it in the main part. To find the right campsite one also has to read a hell of a lot, instead of icons everything is explained in words. For me not a good guide I will use often.
