I think 'Talk Spanish 2' still is pretty basic for those who prefer a bit more advance Spanish. Otherwise the package is good value for money.

I bought this last week and it's brilliant - I've just ordered the second volume. It totally suits my way of learning and is very easy to use. it does work rapidly and is much more pleasnt to listen to than those dreadful CD's with mock conversations in them. i'm really enjoying using it. HIghly effective - would recommend! :)

the CDs are definately needed to go with the book, I have ripped the CDs into mp3s, so that I can transport them around in my Iriver HP140, it saves me taking the CDs with me... only one tip, you must keep at the language to learn it, 2 hours 2 or 3 times a week, every week...and you will soon get a good grasp of it. Spannish by Micheal Thomas is a good set of CDs too..

Totally disappointing. Well, I have a different idea of "advanced Spanish". The whole CD is built of 2-3 min bits of michel thomas talking . It takes 2.5 min for him to explain how is "put it down " and "do it". Really annoying, slow talk. Advanced language is not couple of useful phrases put together. I have wasted my money on this one.

I really like this format. I have looked at very, very many different teaching aids to Spanish, (and bought a few too) and I do think that this is the best one. The format makes good use of colour and variety. There are listening, writing and speaking exercises. It does not ignore the grammar, but explains grammatical points succinctly. The CDs are essential to you progressing on the course. I genuinely think that you can make progress by yourself using this format. Its exceptionally well thought out and executed.

This is the best course book I have worked with. Very easy to understand and a great tool for anyone learning the language.

I've just completed both this and the advanced course and I think that they are both excellent and achieve very well what they set out to do. I think that a lot of the criticism of the courses come from people who do not know before they buy them what Michel's methods are about. These courses will - - give you a solid grounding in the structure of the Spanish language - teach American Spanish rather than Spanish Spanish if you get what I mean, though as far as I can tell the differences are mainly ones of pronunciation - give you a great big boost of confidence after only a very short time; you will feel like you're learning really quickly.
