Well What Can I say.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and ordered my copy from here to arrive on the day it was released.

Once I started I couldn't put this book down, From his times as an Altar Boy, to working in London to the sad ending that leaves you wanting to know more it's a must have for any fan.

Paul has wrote this in a way that makes it sound like he is with you reading it. Almost like you're transported into his world watching the happenings he describes.

10 out of 10 and get cracking on book number 2 Paul! Can't wait to hear about the adventures of Miss Savage!!!

Alan Carr is a total sweetie. He's a real person, just like you and me - and that is meant as a good thing.

Hearing about Alan's early life, his experiences as a homosexual, (though really not a very active one) and growing up in the limelight created by his football managing father, it really is a lesson for all of us in how life is a trial for everyone, even when life is pretty normal.

I had known Alan was funny, (his frequent TV appearances had proven this) however I had never know that he hadn't just popped up out of nowhere to entertain me.

Thank you Alan for providing such entertainment.

So I found myself in Terminal 5 at Heathrow last week and in the process of getting psyched up for my week long European tour of my companies offices I decided to take Mr Frys book with me as a companion.

And, well, its a rather bitter sweet sort of read, leaving you simultaneously amused but short changed.

You see, the author delights you with a wonderful 7 page prologue, dripping in his trademark whit and informed conversation and you're set for the great mans perspective on all things american.

Except its exactly that same dialogue that is actually missing from this book.

What you get is 5 or 6 pages per state, usually with Mr Fry having some form of meal with "typical" residents of the State ... Read More:

When this project was first announced it sounded very cool with its promises of princes thoughts, feelings, scribblings etc, unfortunately what written text there is happens to be reproduced song lyrics.i was hoping for a diary type breakdown of his day by day thoughts on the gigs and the london experience in general, something more personal to him.
There are only actually a handful of live gig pics in the whole book, the rest being made up of staged art exhibition pieces.i was expecting a more raw portrayal of the gigs themselves as overall i dont feel the book necessarily represents the o2 experience...more of a show off for the Dorchester hotel.
Saying that it's saving grace is the cd included which could have commanded the asking price ... Read More:

Wow. Amazing book! I am still recovering from this book which cliff has written from the bottom of his heart. Thank you cliff for giving us an insight into your personality. For fans, it is a 'must' read, as we get to know so many intimate details like what he has for breakfast, his fears, his love and above all his frank approach to life and controversies which surround him. He not only clears the dust but also confirms what all his fans already know about him...that he is such a humble person, inspite of having millions of fans worldwide, especially here in India. My only regret was there were no contact details about his fan clubs nor an address we could write to, which could have been included in this super book.

A fascinating insight into the mind of a TV writer. I hadn't realised that RTD worked so hard - heavily rewriting almost everyone's scripts (apart from Steven Moffat's) including the much lauded Human Nature/Family of Blood.

What I also found interesting about this collection of emails between RTD and Benjamin Cook is that it could almost be said that RTD was using the exchange as therapy - who could have thought that the talking head crying "Marvelous!" and "Hooray!" during Doctor Who Confidential was so wracked with self doubt and self criticism during the creative process? Whatever you may personally think about the episodes he wrote, reading this will give you massive respect for the man.

Despite Russell's disclaimers in the text, ... Read More:

Russell tells his story exactly as you would expect him to relay it to you in person. He has a knack of making really ordinary events funny esp. the gerbils incident, couldn't stop laughing. I love his theatrical style and witty view on life. It certainly gives an insight to his complex personality and I still wonder why he turned to drugs. Anyway, I believe he was honest about his experiences and found it to be genuine indeed. I'd definitely be interested in his next chapter!
