Before i write this revew i have to say that i am a modern warfare fanatic and have read books like 'Black Hawk Down' by Mark Bowden,'Bravo Two Zero' by Andy Mcnab,'3Para' by Patrick Bishop and Countless other Fictional Books by Andy Mcnab and Chris Ryan, anyway get to the point this book is one of the best of them and probally equally gripping as 'Black hawk down' when i first read this book i thought he was downright over confident but at the end I truelly beleaved he had the right to be confident seeing as he survived Terrible Conditions,No food,No water (apart from little amounts and some that had nuclear waste in it) and the end i thought how in earth did he survive just how i felt about some of the people involved in Black Hawk down

This is an briliant book, even if you don't like the A-10 (which I love). It tells that story of how a ugly, slow plane became a swan during the Gulf War. You get an understanding of how it must have been to fly the Hog, on missions it wasn't designed for. As I said earlier, if you have just the smallest interest in aviation, you have to read this book, and if you like the A-10 - well then you MUST read this book.

This book gave me a great in site into how things are done in the real word through a real pilots mind. There are some great and really interesting parts - particularly the flight over from the USA to the UAE in the small cockpit of the F-16! The letters and thoughts he has for his wife and two young daughters are genuinely moving. I also loved The chapter called "Mission from Hell" when the skies were saturated with ground fire and missiles of all kinds.

This is an unbelievably enjoying book. It really shows that the fighter pilot role is not easy. An excellent supplement to this book is the combat sim Janes F-15. As you can gain the terminology that will translate both ways. Also you will understand the F-15E's complicated radar, and the load put on the pilots

Many people believe the film version of this book isn't worth waching but I believe that by both watching the film and the book, everything become perfect sense.
The book talks about a person's extraodinary experience during the first gulf war in operation desert storm and shield.
Reading this book deeply decribes how your mind mentality dramatically changes when you enter a war zone.
The book is not what you would call action packed but you still understand the experiences of what a war does to a soldier.
I love this book and so deeply reccomend this to any war book reader.

Books : Looking for Trouble: SAS to Gulf Command - The Autobiography
General Sir Peter De La Billière ranks amongst the greatest of post-World War Two British military commanders. He served in every conflict from Korea to the first Gulf War and ended that career as a full General with two Knighthoods (Knight Commander of the Bath and Knight Commander of the British Empire - the latter of which superseded the CBE awarded previously) a DSO, two MCs and a Legion of Merit. He was in charge of the British special forces who so successfully stormed the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980 bringing swiftly to an end that very public siege. In 1990 he was the British Forces commander under General Norman Schwarzkopf in the first Gulf War. It is interesting to note that he failed Staff College (a pre-requisite qualification for higher ... Read More:

10.The Gulf War Did Not Take Place by: Jean Baudrillard

Books : The Gulf War Did Not Take Place
This book is very funny in places, even though it has a serious aim. The introduction claims that the author has expressed a wish for it to be read as science fiction: but this is science fiction as social reality. Baudrillard seems to have sat at home watching the Gulf war on TV and jotted down his observations. Many of the facts he comes out with are startling: more US troops would have been killed during the time of the war if they'd stayed at home; CNN reporters in the Gulf would watch CNN to find out what was happening; CNN was used by the military to transmit misinformation as they knew that the Iraqis were watching. These details are probably available elsewhere; Baudrillard's aim is really to expose the fallacious nature of the society we all ... Read More:
