I have owned this book for some time and I can honestly say it is unique. This is the only manual I have encountered that has been consistent in its inability to answer any query i have. Admitedly I am a Javascript novice but that's why I purchased this manual in the first place to help me understand javascript. The internet has quickly answered all my queries with ease and clarity, I really don't understand why this massive book is unable to do the same. As I said above it's probably me, as you can see there are many glowing reports for this book. This is a good book for project managers and senior developers who have enough experience to understand that even a practice like agile development needs a framework to work within and a certain number of standard project management controls to be successful. It deals with some of the practical issues a project manager will face like prioritisation techniques, acceptable levels of functional delivery, inter-dependencies, estimating, padding estimates, monitoring progress, release and iteration planning. Cohn hasn't written the book specifically around any one methodology (ie SCRUM, XP etc) which is good, as in reality people lift and use ideas from various methodologies. I would imagine that there are equally informative books that don't confuse the readers' computer illiteracy with his or her being generally thick, as this book seems to. However, there is a wealth of knowledge, tips and fixes that are very useful - but I find I have to grit my teeth to open the pages. You may want to see some reviews on similar books before opting for this one. The only reason I gave it three stars is because of the tips - I'd been struggling to set up a wireless network at home and cracked it in a few minutes with the help of this book. I hate to admit it - but it is helpful.

I've just passed all three of the QTS skills tests today, and I know Iwould not have been able to do the ICT test without this little book. Ithas all you need to know, and is very accessible. The book explains thebasics you will need to know, providing many examples and practicequestions. Highly recommended for any trainee teacher as the book willreinforce your existing skills and help you to gain new ones, giving youthe confidence to take, and pass, the QTS skills tests.

The best thing about this book is that the author gives full data showing f/stop and shutter speed for each image. However, for quite a few of the author's images this technical data will serve better as an example of how to produce snap shots. I was disappointed to find chapters on portrait posing and composition. There are specialised books that cover these subjects, and frankly they cover them much better. I'd only recommend this book if you are a beginner who is looking to use off-camera flash for the first time. Certainly not a book for advanced or pro photographers.

This book is a well presented, well organised guide to the 70-270 exam syllabus. It isn't too basic, it assumes that you have some working experience already, which is the correct line to take in my opinion. My main gripe with the book is that when you go from 'Part 1 - Learn at your own pace' to 'Part 2 - Prepare for the exam', it has questions on things that aren't covered in the first part. So don't go thinking that this book is fully comprehensive, it's not. Given the size of it, maybe there just wasn't enough room for the fine detail!

After endlessly searching for a decent AS3 book but having to settle with intermediate to advanced book I found this little gem and started some research. After finding reviews on the flashblog and other resources I decided to go ahead with the purchase. not only is this book well illustrated in full colour, it also gives you a sense that your learning at a steady pace without feeling like your missing something as you progress. The online resource site offers all of the files needed to sit and study the chapters in the book closer. Practical, very readable and full of sound advice which works. Genuinely useful books for new managers are rare in my experience and this is one of the best I've come across.
